Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Any tips on restoring the colour on the tub without an abrasive? Removal of old stickers has left shadows as seen below.

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Thanks guys, what I might do is get some liquid mask and just paint the centres of the rims. Leaving the outer edge up painted will limit visual damage caused by normal driving. Then again I may just stick it on a shelf. The rear rims are protected by the tire walls to some extent. Got some seized b...

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Dear folks, I'd like to paint these, any tips welcome as I've never painted this sort of thing before. I've been cleaning up the outside edge of the rims with a wet/dry 1500/2000 paper process which has worked ok. Probably stick with silver paint so wondering about primer colour etc. http://i875.pho...

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Sadly after much testing and swapping out of components I have been unable to get the original Futaba receiver to work and the steering servo is most reluctant too. I may well stick with a MSC on this one as it could end up as a shelf queen leaving my 'trashed' example to be built up into a Beetle f...

All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Won this on eBay UK, my wife doesn't know, sssshhh. Missing front bumper but otherwise I think it has never been taken apart apart. So apart from a repair to a front upright/stub axel and missing bumper it's nice and original. Even down to the hard plastic inner rims inside the tyres. These photos a...

Re: Cut & shut childhood racer - my trashed Scorpion

The OT-30's on the 80's aluminium rims that I inherited back in 1988. Spent a bit of time polishing them and have got some round head hex bolts in the post.

Re: Cut & shut childhood racer - my trashed Scorpion

Hope so as sadly the OT-30 reproduce I bought for the Beetle/Assault rims are too large. However I have some ally rims at about 1.6" which they fit though they are a little narrow.

Kyosho Vanning/Presto: Can anyone identify these kyosho tir

Cheers Lars, well they're in as new condition and will be going on UK eBay under your title of "Kyosho Landjump Vanning Presto Tire Tyre, KC43, LD43".
These 1.8's buggies must have been awesome, did they have a enough power for their size?

Re: Can anyone identify these kyosho tires

Can you guys identify the origin of these XL Sand Supers then? They're about 52mm on the inside. The Beetle/Assault wheel is in there for scale. Cheers.

Re: paint removal

I have had some success stripping smaller parts with a UK product called Dettol Liquid (antiseptic) which contains Chloroxylenol. I think it works best on acrylic paints. Stuff stinks like a hospital after a viral outbreak though. Going to try this on a Kyosho Scorpion body soon so which let RC10tal...

Re: Cut & shut childhood racer - my trashed Scorpion

Thanks for eBay links Lars. I have the remains of an Assault coming and hope to use the shocks from that for my Beetle project. Looks like the tires and front bumper will be useful too. Got another Scorpion I'm cleaning up too, will start another thread.

Re: Cleaned Scorpion

Hey guys, so is brake fluid the option for body stripping (have a scorpion shell to do) or can I get away with Dettol which I have use on smaller parts in the past?
What about spraying wheels silver? Can you get a half decent shine out of a can or not?

Cheers
