Re: Crawltima?
I don't intend for it to be a crawler, I just thought "Crawltima" had a nice ring. Basically, I just think it looks cool with these wheels and tires, and I'd like to be able to drive in freshly-mowed grass. I just ordered a 10t pinion, so we'll see how that works. The name is cool and doe...

Re: Crawltima?
Looks sweet, kinda like a smaller version of the modern ultima db. Be wary of larger tires and torque. The Ultima center gear is not very strong and there is no slipper set up. Those gears arent cheap either. You just put a tire twice as tall as intended and with super grippy tires so if you put a h...

Re: how to cut a body shell
you can use an xacto to score the lines and then either bend and snap or tear the lexan. Believe it or not the lexan wil rip right along the score line and leave a clean edge. Make sure the score line isnt too light though

Re: Red Velvet
Thanks, The wheels are mainly pavement pounders, eventually I was envisioning red chrome rim with a narrow rim up front. Its been a really fun build and I still have to fab a driver and air scoop, not to mention all the tweaks. Its a runner and handles excellent. Feel free to comment and critique, I...

Got more done, I used the alloy body from my alumaultima build and added a little vinyl and decals. http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o744/kyoshojoe1/DSCN9945_zps851efe0b.jpg http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o744/kyoshojoe1/DSCN9947_zps56c63082.jpg http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o744/kyosh...

Re: anyone ever thought of this?
I've toyed with the idea of using lazer zx-5 gearboxes cut in half and two fronts grafted together so you would have an input shaft and an output shaft to drive another gearbox. The only real problem i can see is that the zx-5 gears are not that beeffy and would most likely strip the bevel gear in t...

Re: 2.4g antenna routing
my spectrum receivers are just standard bell wire antennas. Most of the time I route antenna with a 4inch tube if I can. Not sure how 2.4 works but I imagine its like anything else digitally transmitted. Transmitter sends high frequency microwave pulses that get put into a buffer of sorts in the rec...

Re: using up some odd bits....with Grizzly results!
That looks like fun. Now it needs some tube bumpers and maybe some lights. Might even be cool with a roll cage under the body and maybe a wheelie bar for some catwalks.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
WEll emailed Kyosho America, they sent me over the instruction manual for the TF-2 Type R, and the regualr TF3. so if anyone knows how, like to add the PDF files to the instruction sections. so they are there for future. Unless to knew, but the TF2 is about 18 years old? and the TF3 is 16 I would b...

Re: Red Velvet
Got the shafts off ebay and till now didn't know who made them. They were listed as fitting ultima series cars and they do fit but the threads are standard thread and the motor plate needed to be filed a little to clear the outdrive. They are very nice and very precise with zero play but butter smoo...

Re: Quick and easy display stand
Great idea. The simple ones are always best. You could make variants of this design 100 different ways. I was thinking you could do a wood base and drill holes and basically insert pegs. you could inset a mirror into the base to show off that scratch-free chassis as well. making the pegs different l...

Re: brushed speedo with lipo battery
The traxxas xl-5 is an excellent brushed esc. its waterproof, has lipo cut off, and half power training mode.
