Re: Ultima 2019

I remember seeing a prototype World's version of this car with a double decker CF chassis (I think it was '89); maybe time for a replica. This is right up your alley Doug;-)

Re: Another 93 works

The best way to clean those copper coloured springs is with steal wool the kind that looks like the stuff you scrub dishes with and you just fold it around the spring and turn the spring inside it if that makes sense? Anyway they will be shiny in about 20 seconds :D peter We’ll all be damned. Was s...

The electrolyte is the variable; can be done with baking soda, vinegar, muriatic acid or the copper sulfate. Not sure what the best option is..

Re: Outdrives shot?

no, the diff can make a squeal or bark kind of noise, it's the diff gear, balls and rings on the way out. I had a diff just stop working, no real noise. ended up grenading the diff rings. just set up your slipper to slip a couple feet and it will extend the life of the diff, use new thrust assembly...

Re: Outdrives shot?

FWIW, diff gear looks bad but I've ran worse. Outdrives look fine, diff rings are obviously shot. Have the outdrive bearings seized? Looks like classic case of a slipping diff causing the balls to groove the rings and melt the gear. Just my 2 cents. I ordered new diff and rings. The outdrive bearin...

Outdrives shot?

What are the tell tale symptoms that the outdrives are shot? I started hearing a high pitched squeal and pulled the car off the track. I immediately thought it was the diff but the Track/shop owner thought it was idler. After pulling apart my stealth tranny I confirmed the diff gear was shot and the...

Re: Another 93 works

copper oxodizes pretty quickly. If you want to keep the shiny surface it's best to clear coat. polishing the springs would be tough, and the plating is probably super thin. You might be better off re-plating to get the finish back, although I think it still needs to be polished. I was thinking of a...

Re: Another 93 works

Picked up this nice 93 works. I think I can whiten those bulkhead caps and i have a new set of copper springs for it as well. Hmmm...the battery braces are not the originals; must have been from a '94 or later model. I have a brand new stock '93 and it uses a graphite weave like the chassis and upp...

Re: 870c project

Well I got the diffs built and installed, belts installed and caps. Then installed the shock towers. The finish on modern CF just blows away how it was done BITD. That fiberlyte chassis looks like it belongs inside a Mclaren. I spent a LOT of time getting the '91 Stealth finish as close to the orig...

What springs are these?

Anyone have an idea as to what the springs on the left are? The right is the standard yz-10/works front set but the left are advertised as ‘93 but they sure weren’t the stock copper springs on the Works ‘93.

Re: After 4-yrs...my '91 Stealth has begun

Fred’s been working on that car on and off. Modeling the prototype tranny case is a nightmare. In terms of the suspension I think it’s basically a ‘91 car with the front end flipped around. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around who makes good repro bodies. I’d like to have a couple of Yokom...

Re: After 4-yrs...my '91 Stealth has begun

Holy smokes! That looks amazing Justin. 8) I went with a Mirage body but I really think the Viper is better suited to this car. Well done sir!!! These days you'll be lucky to get any body on the car! I also had Vintage AE paint an unused Work's 93 body of mine with same paint scheme and just saw a ...
