I had some wood scraps laying around so I made some rc car racks for testing. I am going to make some nice ones but these test racks turned out ok.
Please excuse my messy workspace it’s my train, gunsmith, rc, and home project workbench.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Got a bit done on the Fiero this evening. No major issues so far. Slap on the MSC in the morning, and this thing will be in the paint shop in no time.

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Finished my DIY bumper....thanks to everybody who chimed in on my last post....score and snap method won the day....followed up with dremel, hand sand, vice/heat gun for a 35deg. kick up. Came out better than I thought....but think it might be time to invest in a mini band saw for the shop. 20240716...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Woke up and finished the Fiero mechanically. I have to be in the mood to paint, and I ain't feeling it today. The TC4 from last weekend needs paint also, so maybe I will wait until I have three cars that need paint, and just do them all at once.

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...
My Mugen Mercury chassis was damaged at the rear end. I found a NIP with the 2 chassis halves, and took it, and I will rebuild the car using it. The Mercury I had for some time is back in his owner hands. The right spindle was broken on mine. And my friend had only left spindles. And while GoMachV s...

Re: Playtron Lynx & Dorbeman - let's CAD again :)
Time to enjoy vacations, so I can work in CAD again... Started to work out the transmission parts of the Doberman (I'll add the elements for the Lynx later on). First the spur gear. Module is 0.8. 20T-55T. This is pretty easy. The shaft has a D cut, which is likely used to transmit power from the ge...

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...
The Mercury 4Xi came with a key for the wheel nuts. They are bigger than what we found usually on 1/10 EP cars. And it's damaged. I solved this with a very simple but effective print... https://i.imgur.com/GjFeM1Z.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/uYIwLok.jpeg Next part is the paintjob. Something simple is o...

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...
Spent this morning to deal with the paintjob... Fluorescent red, white stripe, black and smoke for the window. Quick reminder : this is not an original bodyshell, it is based on an approximative CAD model, mold was printed and the bodyshell was vacformed by a friend (I may have to work out a better ...

Re: Playtron Lynx & Dorbeman - let's CAD again :)
Front arms are actually easy parts to put in CAD... https://i.imgur.com/wvizVzo.jpeg Once that was done, I played with joints in Fusion360, and that helps to debug the few elements where it was required... (Front top arms were half millimeter shorter than what they should be, and the shock lever fix...

Re: Playtron Lynx & Dorbeman - let's CAD again :)
Shocks are in. I analysed in detail the front shock, and derived the rear without opening them.... https://i.imgur.com/BciRK8k.jpeg Next was to get them on the chassis... https://i.imgur.com/AdyZFaV.jpeg For those who opened a NIB of Playtron Doberman, beside the few parts still missing (bumper, mot...

Re: Playtron Lynx & Dorbeman - let's CAD again :)
The Bumper is quite easy using some boolean... It consists of a profile extruded and cut from the top projection, and another profile also cut from the top projection... https://i.imgur.com/vpuyKVF.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/zoiL7tB.jpeg I quickly added it to the chassis... https://i.imgur.com/sOJSk3P...

Re: Playtron Lynx & Dorbeman - let's CAD again :)
Since I started to digg in the Lynx, it was now time to get into it, for real. I disassembled the front gearbox to see what was inside... https://i.imgur.com/kMNEJlS.jpeg I started to reproduce the gear set. Gears are module .8 (11T/30T), and bevel gears are 12T module 1 (the same are used at the re...

Re: Playtron Lynx & Dorbeman - let's CAD again :)
Now the chassis are almost done, looking at the bodyshell, it's quite simple : mostly flat panels... I started to put the data in for the profile line... https://i.imgur.com/VlEKCo2.jpeg Then, I assembled some surfaces together... https://i.imgur.com/Q2OEaRu.jpeg And soon, I had a bodyshell...
