Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - October 2021 ** - Winner - orangemazda
The inspiration for this build comes from the Marui The Samurai 4wd prototypes campaigned at the 1985 Worlds , the prototypes were all white . The Samurai to me is one of the best looking buggy's from the 80's and in white just so much better , this project leans heavily on 3d printed parts , I drew...

Custom touring car build
So, i just put this car in the build of the month contest, and figured I'd make this thread to cheat my way into some more pictures  Actually, I found some older pictures that i took when i first completed it, and it looks much better all shiny and new. Couldn't locate these before the contest...

Re: Very young youngtimer ;) Hot Bodies D413
You really do amazing work!
Why did you put the O-ring under the receiver plate? Is it just to keep the plate off the chassis to prevent scuffs?

Re: Very young youngtimer ;) Hot Bodies D413
I'd have that receiver plate mounted with at least 2 attachment points. With just one, with an offroad buggy, it's guaranteed to start swivelling once that single mounting screw loosens up a bit. Maybe a little square of servo tape underneath would also prevent this. The wing setup doesn't look opti...

Re: Pan car identification needed
I threw on some BSR spec tires for the time being. Since I plan on doing some parking lot running, I'm thinking that some CRC wheels and rubber F1 tires sounds like a good idea. Re: Kyosho Salute Project
So in those days I was always fascinated with shock absorbers. I recall trying to make my own custom shock towers to fit Land Jump 1/8 shocks to my Tomahawk! The used Optima came with these large gold shocks with pink springs. This was aftermarket for the Optima and preceded the Option House gold sh...

RM Mk.5 Porsche 956 Build
Randomly ran across this thing on ebay a couple of months ago, and it kinda floored me. I had not idea Tamiya made cool things! :D Through research, up until the mid-80s, they made loads of cool stuff. But I digress. I must have hit this car at the perfect time, because since then, every other one I...

Re: RM Mk.5 Porsche 956 Build
Motor and MSC in. Rx wiring cleaned up.
Waiting on a battery. Ironically, the one time I actually want to use a Tamiya plug, not a single battery I own has one left on it.

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
I added some vintage Futaba gear - the S132H servo is probably close to the time of the original Optima, to my recollection in 1984. The MC116 ESC and receiver would be a little later, I believe 1990.

My first glued and trued tires. I give them a solid A for Acceptable. Far from perfect, but good enough.

Re: RM Mk.5 Porsche 956 Build
And after just about the worst paint job in my life (which is saying a lot), I can just about call this one done. :D This will be car #1 of a mid-80's 1:12 line up that I want to create with as many manufacturers as I can get my hand on. #2 will be a Kyosho Alta if parts ever get here, and #3 will b...
