The 2WD buggy that handily beat the RC10 in 1987

I pulled the trigger on a vintage 1987 Ultima because of its unique place in racing history...I wanted to get under the hood of one. The Kyosho Ultima buggy did a 1,2,3 sweep at the 1987 2wd IFMAR world championships. This car made Team Associated what it is today to some degree. There is a nice wri...

Re: The 2WD buggy that handily beat the RC10 in 1987

Back in the mid to late 1980's, our local off-road track separated 2wd buggies into three classes; 540 (open to anything that wasn't an RC10, 27 turn, 6 cells), RC10 stock (27t, 6 cells), and RC10 modified (any motor, 7 cells). I wanted something to race in 540 so I bought an Ultima when they were f...

Local Score. I am beyond excited

I am actually shaking. Just scored a sassy chassis King Cab for $40. I feel like the luckiest person in the world right now.

Re: What's in the mail? Or, What are you currently waiting for?

You wont regret it. Its sweet! The changes were mostly going to 3mm screws, although the front bulkhead is 4 screws now. I'm thoroughly impressed even though I hate the shocks.

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - October 2024 ** - Winner - TheDiamondOne

I'm in My entry is the Marui Racing Buggy, aka Hunter prototype (at very least, this is the inspiration, from a single picture) https://i.imgur.com/X7RrfXd.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/hXNwRk6.jpeg Again, this is relying a lot on 3D printed parts : At the very exception of the wheels (orginals from a Ma...

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - October 2024 ** - Winner - TheDiamondOne

Gonna take you back to an very important car in my rc history. 1989. This was my ultima that was modified as much as my budget for a 16 year old could afford mowing lawns (which I still do to this day for a living). Our local track converted to dirt oval. It was a very loamy heavily watered soil so ...

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)

The file set for Hunter/Galaxy was featured in the "Best designs" category on the home page of cults3D, and this has quite an impact on views, followers and likes...
That's another achievement unlocked! :-)

Re: So, what did you do RC today?

I always heard wd40 is safe. Just needs a lot of time to soak So soakage is key..? I did the spray and wipe method with WD, but did not let it soak in for any length of time. I'll give the soak a shot for deeper penetration. I'd give the spray can of Good-Off a go, but I'm still a bit at odds with ...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

I visited my mom this evening and took this picture of her backyard in the dark when I left because I grew up there. The digitizing of the pic turned out interesting I thought.

Re: Factory Works Ten4.1 project

You really need to read up on our FAQ and parts list to get the full idea of what we did but it uses a stealth diff up front and will have, as with every 4wd, slightly less steering than a 2wd, but the same as a Kyosho optima or similar 4wd of the era. As the maker of this conversion, I can say whol...
