Re: The official "lightweight" chassis thread.

Oooooold thread revival! I have just stumbled across this whilst I was searching for some Nick Adams/Demon reference material... and have just read every page. Some amazing examples of chassis lightening here! I should probably add my MMS Concept Car, although it is nothing like as severe as many of...

Re: Demon Pro King ESC

This next one is a bit more of a curiosity; outwardly it appears as though it is a 'King' spec unit, which was identical to the ProKing but had 6 FETs instead of the more usual 8. However the PCB is a ProKing unit. I know Francis had a couple like this bitd. I guess the King and ProKing boards were ...

Pre-Platinum Checkpoint 20Double

Nice bit of Checkpoint rarity here, in as-found condition. I believe these were HPI Uno (Masami) based builds with the slot modular endbell conversion, subsequently leading to the more common Platinum Series Checkpoints which also had the trademark slot brushes. Very pleased to be adding this to my ...

Re: Works 91 completion

I ran a Works 91 bitd for many years with decent success. I still have the car. We used an RPM rear bulkhead/gearbox housing which with the eccentric fittings allows for subtle rear belt tension adjustment. As such I never had any issues with the fine pitch belts. Front nylon MMS bulkhead is also a ...

Re: The Pinkomo 870c with WASP transmission

Quick look at the new shell which is a replica of my orginal white racing shell from around 1989. I have gone for many of the original decals i used, including those from Penn Models who used to provide me with hop-up parts, plus a few additional ones to suit the pink nature of the car(!) I wi...

Re: Sand Scorcher

So a little progress..... the build has morphed into a MkI with the discovery of some early parts..... and it has certainly attained a rusted-out rat look too. I am still working on some of the 'aged' details, but have recently added some vintage decals which i have worked over in-situ and seem to w...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

You'll see what it's in soon enough..... as I have found the very car from the mag.... and hence why I am trying to find the motor.

Re: Built for the Shelf Versus built to Run

I try to build everything with the intention of running or racing it at some stage, although i don't actually make it to the track very often at all. The intention is there though. What is strange for me is those cars I cherish the most and will be reluctant to run again until my driving skills have...

Re: Hot Trick Optima 'Trinity Car'

Being a 1986 build I decided to go all-out 80's floro.... and spent a good while hunting online for inspiration from body shells past. I gathered up a few screen grabs of various themes i liked the look of and sent them off along with my body shell to my trusted paint guy.... he has never let me dow...

Re: Le Mans motor restorations

Great thread! I just read through every page. I only ever had a 240S back in the day, and that was a whim purchase from when I was on a family holiday and stumbled across a small model shop on the island of Jersey (UK Channel Islands) when I was about 13 years old. I have no idea what happened to it...

834b Delta-ish racer

When I first posted up pictures of my bog standard 834b, which i gained in a trade and by my own admission is absolutely lovely, a couple of people pointed out it wouldn't be long until i built another more modified version to race. Turns out I immediately got the itch, and they were absolutely righ...

Rat Look Sand Scorcher

Well thanks to some sharp work from a very skilled member of this forum I have managed to get an RC care package sent out to me whilst working offshore.... during a port call yesterday the lovely missus brought me some bits and bobs to work on whilst at sea. First up, a pair of funky and slightly in...

Re: Sand Scorcher

Well..... Dadio, take a bow. I decided i wanted to fit an old rusted up Thermador Swamp Cooler to this build, and so sent off some pictures of it to our local 3D printing guru Dadio. Here are a few of the ones i sent him.... b.jpg images (2).jpg c.jpg a.jpg He didn't let me down. Whilst he was worki...

Re: dinglem's daily drivers

The Mardave Meteor. This car was the focus of a series of mag articles over in the UK where a famous driver by the name of Greg Halliday gradually modified it in an attempt to compete with the RC10. This was the cheapest British car on the market, with the kit costing just 49.99pounds. Spare parts c...
