Re: Brimod Thermal Charger
The adverts introducing the 'new' charger were in the Sept '88 Radio Race Car edition.

Re: NODIS RC10 gearboxes - rarity
On a couple of these it seems a little odd that the intermediate gear is only supported on one side of the gearbox. However, having stumbled across a spare short spindle shaft in the box of spares which came with these I can now see that a little thought was put into this; it isn't just a simple str...

Novak NES-1A haul - Kent Clausen white version
Bit of a scoop here... I seem to have stumbled across a bit of a Novak servo haul. I have been on the lookout for a Novak NES-1A servo for my Demon MF-1 1/12th build and nothing much has come up for a while..... then out of the blue a couple of days ago i received a message from a friend of mine who...

Re: Novak NES-1A haul - Kent Clausen white version
I actually kinda like the red one!! I am hoping to get a decent number of functioning NES-1A's out of that box if possible. Pretty chuffed

Re: Novak NES-1A haul - Kent Clausen white version
The UK ESC scene was very much a cottage industry, with manufacturers turning out their products from garden sheds in the early days. Nick Adams of Demon started out in 1979 and was making his early electronic, non-FET units from 1980, shifting to the Big Devil and Little Devil FET units at some poi...

Re: Novak NES-1A haul - Kent Clausen white version
I should also probably add that the Novak timeline also states 'Electronic speed controls make their first World Championship appearance at the 1985 Off-Road Worlds, with both Jay Halsey and Gil Losi Jr using them to capture world titles.' In fact, my mate Jimmy Davis (who incidentally is the guy wh...

AYK Radiant - Mid Conversion
From what i gather from speaking to Steve Dunn, fewer than 50 of these Mid conversion kits were sold before they started churning out the official Pro Radiant kits. I have been on the hunt for an original one for aaagggessssss.... so was really chuffed when this one miraculously came my way. The con...

Re: AYK Radiant - Mid Conversion
I am about to start the strip and clean-up on this car.... but one thing i have noticed is that is also has the rather unusual front one-way wide rims as per the Maverick, prior to the later one-way hex hubs which followed on the Pro Radiant. I have checked with Steve Dunn and having seen an early A...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower
This is my fourth ceramic armature motor..... the others being a 20Single, 11Single and a 13Triple. SRM Scorcher modified, which like MG used the Race Prep ceramic armatures for a short while in around 1990. This one was a bit of a steal, albeit well used condition, so i couldn't really say no. It w...

Re: Dreams and go to motors of your youth?
I am very lucky that i still have all but a few of my original motors. I started out in around 1986 and back then in the UK anything with a Demon label was quick. My first non silver can motor was a Demon 27T standard, which was well used and i still have it, complete with motor cleaner-faded label....

Re: 1986 'Penn Models' Touchtronics VF8 (V-FET) ESC
This has now been sent off for testing and a tidy up by ESC guru Ian Mullaney over in the UK - it is working fine and has been treated to fresh heatshrink. The original wiring looks good so all it has had is a new Tamiya connector added and it is now ready to go back into the Penn Models-based MMS R...

Trailing arm '2wd Concept Car' prototype
When an ex-CML driver tells you he has a stripped down one off trailing arm 2wd car in his loft.... I was buying some MG motors off a guy around 18months ago and when i met up with him for the exchange he told me that he was at one time a team CML (Central Models) driver, and that he had been given ...

Re: Dreams and go to motors of your youth?
Mine is a pre-Sagami one which Nick stamped with his own DEMON lettering. These are pretty rare and this is the best HT i have come across so far. I also have an unused MrT Special in this same format.
