Re: UK Lightweight Racer
I realised I probably haven't explained this build very well as it was very much a UK thing to lighten the RC10's as much as possible like this. The lightweight 'shortie' era was a short-lived period through late 1985 and into 1986 when, in the UK at least, 2wd cars and 4wd cars ran in the same clas...

Re: UK Lightweight Racer
I actually have an early Penn Models advert here, which details their Penn Jackal bodyshell.... available in standard and lightweight formats. It also shows you how common these cut-away chassis were.... as they also advertise the very chassis liners I have in my car here. These were pretty vital wi...

Re: Your favorite ESC (with photo)
Well, much like Frankentruck, my go-to ESC throughout all of my racing days was a Novak T-1X. I started out with it in my 870c in around 1988 and ran it right up until i stopped racing with my works 91 in probably about 1995. it never once failed me or let me down, remained competitive and i still h...

Re: Your favorite ESC (with photo)
If you're after home-made... check out this witchcraft before your very eyes then..... Ian Mullaney over in the UK has taken it upon himself to save space in his ProCAT for vintage class racing by building an esc into his chassis.... He just sent me the pics to post up on here. The guy is a ...

Re: Novak NES-1A haul - Kent Clausen white version
This is how they ended up when i sorted through the box. Quite a nice lot considering. i have sent some of these off to be built back up into (hopefully) functioning units again. There were loads of misc NES-1A servo parts in the box, motors, gears and general internal gubbins. Nice to have so many ...

1981-82 Team Associated Sticker Sheet
I was given this in a haul from ex-Team Associated, team Reedy and Team Novak driver Jimmy Davis fairly recently. He let me have a heap of Novak parts including the elusive white/translucent Novak NES-1A servo as per the Kent Clausen 1982 World Championship winning car. He told me he received two tr...

1985 Marfet ESC (Pre-Nosram)
This is an interesting one, and I have been looking for one of these for quite some time... even without knowing what they actually looked like. About a month a good friend of mine was looking to buy an Optima, and in the background of one of the eBay pictures I spotted a mystery ESC, looking very m...

Re: 1985 Marfet ESC (Pre-Nosram)
I have finally managed to track down a Century Systems advert for their Marfet iteration. The examples of these I have seen do not appear to have the MFT lettering on the underside of the PCB.

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - July 2022 ** - Winner - scr8p
Just about to get off ship so will most likely drop off the radar for the next month or so.... thought I would get my vote in before I go.... will most likely miss next month completely. Tough choice for me this month as all of the entries were outside of my typical model or style of build sphere. I...

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - September 2022 ** - Winner - THEYTOOKMYTHUMB
Certainly a broad mix of cars this month! I had to go with the one that tugged on my heartstrings.... that being the Egress. I raced against and battled with a very competitive pair of these, sister cars driven by Kevin 'Killer' Griffin and Roy Rogers... who were both Team Demon drivers for the 1991...

Re: TOMY Intruder - now complete
Found a few more GPM alloy parts for this so on they go.... super-rare top deck and also the steering link. Just the front and rear gearbox eccentrics to add now. I have also added some Japanese mag decals across the battery straps and switched the motor to a red prism label 30deg 1990 Demon 27turn ...
