Re: Shinwa Motor Dresser

It certainly gave a good like-for-like comparison, particularly for standard 27T motors. We used to get handed hand-picked MG motors when we were competing the standard class, and those motors always consistently gave around 2-3000rpm more than the off-the-shelf equivalents we had tested previously....

Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

Here are some of my old motors from bitd. These range from around '87 to '92. There is a nice timeline of MG motors evident here, as I became sponsored by them and they provided me with their 'hand selected' standard motors. You can see the MG Brown Dot (now quite rare) has a sticker marking it as a...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

We have a large outbuilding which is used as a garage. You can get 6 cars in there parked up in two lines of three, at a push. Above that is a converted loft space which I use as a mancave and have all of my bikes up there. There will be room for the RC cars up there for sure as there is loads of sp...

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread

Did the 'Santa Cruise' just before Christmas..... It basically involves dressing up as Santa, taking a bmx on the train down to London, meeting up with other like-minded old BMXers and then collecting donations and presents whilst doing a pub crawl around central London, then passing by the Evelina ...

RC10 Graphite project

Following on from my other 'Graphite Custom' thread, I have decided to build up another pair of cars from my spares stash. One will be a gold pan A-stamp chassis and the other will be a Graphite. As a base for the latter I have managed to find a very tidy Graphite chassis as can be seen here. graphi...

My original CAT XL - freshly uncovered

So i have contacted the guy I sold my original and early CAT XL to recently - turns out he still has the car, which he modified for carpet racing bitd. He has dug it out from storage for me to have a look at - i would love to have it back to restore it. Sadly the original, early curved bumper has go...

AYK Pro Radiant

Well after lusting after the Pro Radiant bitd, I decided to have a go at sourcing one and so posted a wanted ad on RC10talk to see what might come up, if anything. I had looked over the Bay and seen a few had been sold in the past 18 months, in various states of disrepair. I already knew they didn’t...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

Do the label colour differences mean anything here? I know one was a Red Dot and I seem to recall having a Pink Dot too.

Both coloured dots have fallen off...

Sand Scorcher

Ok folks, I know nothing about these, but have just been given this as part of a large score. It was thrown in for free so I am looking for some info on it please. Can anybody tell me what I have here, what I need to look out for etc... I have never really fancied a Sand Scorcher before, but now I h...

Re: Motor Collection - Old School Horsepower

This is a second TMS Tornado 13 Double, mounted up and ready to go in the back of my Meteor. This very motor (this actual one) was used by racer Jon Cooke to qualify second to Rory Cull in the Stafford Winter Nats in 1990. Having checked the motor on our motor dresser I can see why as it revs very v...

Barracuda Race Timer and Battery Analyser

Something cool of ours from up in the loft..... race timer and battery analyser from the late 80's. This was pre-transponders really, although they did develop a transponder loop later on. It looks in great condition still anyway. Advert from May '88. 32185618_10157389484601258_9161929291280154624_n...

AYK Pro Radiant spares - THE MOTHERLOAD

So having built up my Pro Radiant kit a while ago now, I have been scouring the internet trying to locate a few spares to enable me to subsequently race it on the track without having to tiptoe around.... pretty impossible as spares are super scarce as it is in the USA, let alone over in the UK wher...

Re: RC10 Graphite project

Another long-standing and quiet thread, but I have started to make a little progress with this build now. Still a way to go, but a quick update for the time being. Firstly, I managed to get my hands on a very cool bespoke rear shock tower made by a fellow owner. Just the kind of thing I was looking ...
