Re: Your forever car...
That's probably the easiest question I've had to answer in a long time. It's my avatar. I wish I had an interesting story to tell but I don't. The original RC10 was my first serious RC race car; it was then and continues to be my all-time favorite. Gives me more smiles/mile than any other ...

Re: Now people can't stop talking about the 1/12th Fantom 4wd re-re!!! :)
I guess I would agree. Fancy packaging is nice but I would never allow the lack of it to influence my purchase decisions.
If I really like the car, I'll buy it even if arrives in a paper bag.

Ford v Ferrari (spoiler alert)
Got the blu ray and watched it last night and I'm curious if any of our membership here has seen it. I thought I knew the story but was surprised by some plot twists. Perhaps the film-makers have taken some artistic license in an effort to make a better movie , not sure. We're all familiar with Lee ...

Re: Ford v Ferrari (spoiler alert)
I thought it was a well done movie. The actual Ken Miles LeMans GT40 car was at the Shelby American Collection right down the road from me. That car is all business and no roll cage! It may still be there but it has been several years since I visited. His Cobra Roadster is there listed in their col...

Re: It all started with an idea...
I've never actually made it myself but maybe something like this would work. It uses only factory holes so no drilling necessary. Anyway, this is just one method, there are other ways to achieve the same objective but this is probably one of the simpler ways. Of course this assumes you're using a re...

Re: mini servo for steering
I have no experience with Savox or Spektrum but I once fitted a Futaba S3114 to my B2. It's 11mm high, high torque and fast but with plastic gears I really didn't expect it to survive and it didn't. Hitec makes a similar sized servo, HS-5055MG, which is 11.6mm and has metal gears but it seems rather...

Stealth Trans w/Gear Diff
I’ve been working on this for a while and think I’ve hit upon a design that will work. I want to replace the original Stealth transmission’s ball differential with a B4 (5,6) style gear diff to remedy the outdrive availability problem and to reduce or eliminate the need for frequent transmission mai...

Re: Stealth Trans w/Gear Diff
Funny you mention that about making a gauge to have printed- that was exactly my thought as I’m tired of spending a month of waiting and $25-35 on failed prints. Mine have ended up loose in the bore, but I’ll have to find the case and measure it to be sure how far. The last one was probably usable ...

Re: Stealth Trans w/Gear Diff
The right case has been updated. I've added a counter-bored screw hole inside next to the diff gear. This will align with the existing bottom hole in the motor plate eliminating the need to modify that part. The original screw hole remains but has been resized to allow the case halves to be screwed ...

Re: Mid-motor B1, B4, B6
The car looks spectacular Chuck.
One of the best mid-motor conversions I've seen so far.
Just a really neat and tidy design - everything in its place. Well done sir!!

Re: Stealth Trans w/Gear Diff
The main drilling template is finished and has been used to make a set of test plates.
Hole locations and gear mesh is good.
On to the prototype gear cases for running tests.

Re: Stealth Trans w/Gear Diff
With most of the machine work completed on the prototype cases, I thought I’d pause here for an update and step you the machining process. As many of you who have ever made anything on a lathe or milling machine already know, most of the time is spent on equipment setup so, rather than making only o...

Re: Now people can't stop talking about the 1/12th Fantom 4wd re-re!!! :)
The car looks great Chris! By chance, are you able to determine if the front and rear sprockets have the same tooth count? Someone mentioned the car having one-way bearings in the front but I'm curious if they've addressed the difference in tire size by over-driving the front sprocket. Anyway, thank...

Re: Stealth Trans w/Gear Diff
Thank you Matt. This has been an interesting project. So, the mounting holes are in and the test trans is finished but before installing it in the car, I wanted to perform a trial fit with a re-re that was assembled with kit parts according to the manual to check bone engagement (kit shocks, CVA’s, ...
