Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)

Ah, I recognize that news print packing.
I bet it came from Marwan.

FWIW, I've think that decal set looks nice on a white body as well.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

A warrantee replacement battery from Awanfi. This was sent to replace a battery that arrived to me a couple weeks ago with a weak cell. They've included another voltage checker and apparently they noticed from my photos that I've switched to EC5 connectors so they included a new battery connector as...

Re: Early Nodis gearbox (Pre-Stealth)

I'm curious; why doesn't the idler gear shaft pass through both sides of the case?

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

Yep, Mids are super smooth and dead quiet. I recall the first time I got mine on the track. It was so quiet running that the only sound I could hear came from the tires. Now, my ProSC 4x4 is another matter entirely. That one does sound like a bucket of bolts, or, more accurately, like a box of rocks...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

The word on the street is that Kyosho is getting close to making an announcement regarding the Mid. As we've all seen with Kyosho recently, simply making an announcement doesn't mean the car will become available anytime soon. Even if they do re-release the Mid, it will almost certainly come with th...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

Doug do u like the platinums alot? I really appreciate the variable dampening feature and I think they are one of the very best looking shocks on any RC. I have them on a couple restored SE's and a TU but I don't run them due to the lack of replacement parts. I have one or two that need new o-rings...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE

I'm on the fence with this one. On one hand, I like box-art restorations for vintage RC's as they are immediately recognizable and for the nostalgia. On the other hand, I'm very curious to see what Chuck does with this. I think it's gonna be good regardless which way he goes. A nice Mid always gets ...

Re: Optima Pro

Absolutely stunning Derek! Very nice indeed! Oh, and thank you for formatting the pic in letterbox so it opens almost full screen. 8)
This begs the question; why don't modern RC buggies look this good?
I have another question, how are you at white-lettering tires?

Re: RC10 Noob Questions

IFMAR World Championships; 1/10 Off Road 2wd:

Associated RC10 - 2 ('85,'93)
Kyosho Ultima - 1 ('87)
Tamiya (any car) - 0

The sloppy gear box makes it fast.

Re: RC10 Noob Questions

Yeah, I agree. Depending upon which motor you go with, the stock white 32dp idler gears should be okay. If you can locate a worn-out set of stock metal outdrive gears (those having worn-out drive cups), you can modify them to become idler gears which would yield a full set of metal gears in the tran...

Re: RC10 Noob Questions

Wow, I have to agree Dadio. It's been used but definitely not abused.
Don't sweat the scratches, inspecting the bottom of the pan requires a deliberate act; it's not easily seen while on the shelf or on the track -- well, most of the time anyway.
Anyway, good job. The car is looking great!!

Re: RC10 Noob Questions

Congrats Dadio. Glad you've finally gotten to experience what it's like to drive an RC10. My first experience seeing an RC10 in action was while turn-marshalling my very first off-road race in about 1986. Convinced by a friend to go RC racing, I showed up that day with my old Sand Scorcher and of co...
