Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Very nice work so far. I agree with you completely regarding the use of grease on exposed parts. Grease + dirt = grinding paste (or anti-lubricant). One quick note: If you are planning to fit the supplied top lexan panel, you will want to remove these two protrusions from top of cage (step 15, page ...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Here are those dimensions you've requested. I have designed this part in imperial decimal units to make it easier to lathe (unfortunately, my old lathe doesn't accommodate the metric system  ) so I have changed units to mm for you here. The result is some dimensions may appear a bit random. Yo...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Additional thinking about the range of move from the rear suspensions: it's not only the arms by the rear axles are also touching the roll cage. Modifying the rear arms would not be enough to change the situation. Further it seems that extending the range would lead to loose the dog bones. So I wil...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

toys.JPG I guess my car came from that other Tamiya company. I have a feeling I'll get frustrated running this car on the track. I might as well accept its limitations and have fun or put it on the shelf where it was meant to go. I do agree with you, it should be great fun on a beach. I just ...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Twin tail lights with a central license plate holder, I definitely think you're on the right track with this mod. Cannot wait to see the finished product. I'm nearly finished and while assembling my copy, I've spent some time and modeled each part. The parts are then assembled and the finished model...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Doing the wiring is my least favorite part of any build. I think you've handled the wiring very well. At least with this car, the battery is accessed from underside so the body stays on and no one will ever see the wires. One quick note on the included ESC. My copy came with a Hobby Wing 1060 and th...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Applying matte black paint around the driver figure makes a huge improvement. Mark Bryan posted his Blockhead build video recently and he has done this also. Anyway, everything is looking great so far. 8) I've painted my driver's face very similar but your driver looks much better than mine. Age, po...

Re: RC10DS - Lamborghini Diablo

As someone who has spent a lifetime hand-crafting parts from aluminum then struggling to brush and polish those pars to arrive at an acceptable finish, I am humbled by your work.
It's just beautiful!

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

That's awesome! You have a great start on something that's sure to look better than the panel in your link. Anyway, for mounting the panel I was thinking perhaps a couple small feet projecting forward and roughly perpendicular to the panel (maybe 70 degree angle to tilt the panel so Mister Big Hands...

Re: Rebuilding a vintage javelin to be a runner

I agree with Dadio. Also, rere Ultima and rere Optima share transmission parts including the slipper assembly. I should also note that due to updates Kyosho made to the rere, it's extremely difficult to fit rere transmission parts in a vintage Optima (different FDR, gear pitch, etc). And this even i...

Re: Rebuilding a vintage javelin to be a runner

It's been a long while since I've had my car apart so I really don't recall many of the details. For the front diff, if you run the chain, then you can continue to run the car's original front diff assembly - the specs for the chain is the same. If you switch to belt drive however, the front diff as...
