Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Yay! Politics :( edit: I guess I should add a pic. Nothing exciting. Just a room with new carpet. But I did the carpet. Kinda weird that carpet isn't a DIY thing. It's been said that the word "politics" comes from "poli" meaning many, and "tics" meaning blood sucking i...

Re: Solution to reduce play in the dogbone cup of my RC10B4? Can you help?

You mean the gap for the drive pin is worn so the pin is a sloppy fit? I have several cars with the same problem and I just live with it. I used to believe that the pin was made from a softer material than the drive cups so it became a sacrificial part but now I don't think that's always true in eve...

Re: Solution to reduce play in the dogbone cup of my RC10B4? Can you help?

As a side note, MIP makes a "Puck" system that uses replaceable (orange) plastic inserts as the sacrificial part of the bone.
However, the system also requires purpose made drive cups.

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

.... (the only question I ask myself is why am I doing all of this? ) I reckon it's because you find the work interesting, it increases your knowledge of the car you are modeling and it adds another dimension to the hobby. Besides, virtual vintage RC's never break, they never get scratched or...

Re: Tamiya Holiday Buggy / ORV Hodgepodge

I made the HB faster tonight because now it has a "Sport Tuned" motor. Don't know what this means, but it must mean sportier somehow. I believe the silver can motor is good for around 16 MPH while the Sport Tuned could exceed 16 1/2 MPH. It's meant for experienced RC drivers. Both motors ...

Re: Custom Works Dominator resto (done for now 9/14)

We have been contracted from Thumbs to do a box art resto on his Dominator! Very cool! Will you post the project on this forum? A fellow Dominator owner is very interested. :D Oh yeah! Yeah baby, YEAH! Someday I really want to fit some appropriate tires, take the car to a nice smooth parking ...

Beetle Mania (Sand Scorcher/DT-02 and Blitzer Beetle)

... or, A Tale of Two Beetles. My very first surface RC was the Tamiya Sand Scorcher, ordered from Tower Hobbies catalog around 1979 or 1980. It was built box stock and finished box art except that I replaced French Blue with Orange. Fitted to the headlights were micro incandescent bulbs borrowed fr...

Re: Element RC Gatekeeper

This is without a doubt, the finest replica model if its kind I have ever seen.
By chance have you reached out to the 1:1 truck owners for their feedback?
I think they will be blown away.

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Chicago is an amazing city - I've been there many times.
I've visited the top of Sears Tower on one occasion and I'm embarrassed to say that I could hardly pry myself away from the elevators.
The view from that height is breath taking and a little frightening at the same time.

Re: Beetle Mania (Sand Scorcher/DT-02 and Blitzer Beetle)

I've made some progress over the past week but I've been lazy about updating the build thread. The unused mounting holes were plugged using some of the plastic sprue removed from the sun roof area... P1010849.JPG ... and I've applied some of Tamiya's filler and sanded them flat. P1010844.JPG Next, t...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

An old high school buddy of mine paid me a visit recently. While he's definitely added a few pounds during the past 44 years (class of '78), with the 'stache we couldn't decide if he looks more like Wilfred Brimley or Teddy Roosevelt. He's a good guy either way and I was happy he stopped by. 2...

A quick update: the Blitzer is nearly finished. Just need to fit the bumper, Rx and ESC and it's ready to go.

Re: Beetle Mania (Sand Scorcher/DT-02 and Blitzer Beetle)

Moving on to the Scorcher body, paint work is complete. Need to do the chrome trim, install decals, wipers, mirrors, driver, tail and headlights, etc. and body is finished. P1010920.JPG I'm really happy with this one. It sanded and polished much easier than the Blitzer body. I reckon it's because th...
