Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

No. Unfortunately I was a financially strapped college student back in the early '80's so the SS was sold. I don't even have photos - very sad about that. I've bought a few Tamiya kits from Japan and none of them include an ESC. Also, I've read that Tamiya has discontinued manufacturing their own ES...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

That is so sweet! The right decals, a boxart front bumper, and love the wheels you went with too, they look like the old Centerline rims, especially the way you painted the drums black in the center of each, so cool. Thanks for the recommendation on the paint pen, I may have to try a couple of diff...

Re: Beetle Mania (Sand Scorcher/DT-02 and Blitzer Beetle)

Excellent work! Any updated pics for these two? Are they still that clean? Thanks! The short answer is no. Like most of the collection, they are covered with dust from setting on the shelf. The boxart body was moved to the Sand Scorcher to finish that build. The Blitzer Beetle has been conve...

Re: QUICK QUESTION

Appreciate the responses guys. Unfortunately its too late. The auction ended just after the first response. At least now I know for next time. I'm really sorry about that. I don't own a B stamp and wasn't aware they were holed for both transmissions. So, we've both learned something new. Edit: As i...

Re: QUICK QUESTION

Happy Easter everyone. “ He is risen. ” FWIW, I’ve been running this 6-gear short arm car with a Reedy 3500kV on 2s since around 2016… P1010430.JPG …and the only transmission related problem came when the idler gear shaft E-clip broke. Apparently, the broken clip has allowed the shaft to rock in the...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

I agree, the tire lettering and the build overall looks fantastic! I haven't attempted mine yet. That very small font is a bit intimidating. One thing I noticed is that the angle of the upper and lower rear shock mounting screws cause binding so I bent the screws slightly to allow the shocks to cycl...

Re: 3d10

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

Looking good! If you're concerned about rubbing through the paint during the polishing process, you can clear-coat with lacquer since TS is lacquer based. Apply 5-10 coats of clear, wait 10 days then a light wet-sand with 2000 grit to remove dust or orange peel then polish. It will shine and reflect...

Re: Finding a diff for the Axial SCX10 transmission

Thanks for creating this thread. This is perfect. Maybe not entirely obsolete. As you’ve mentioned, if you own a Stealth and need new parts, then Fan RC is the way to go. However, if you have the Austar transmission and would like to install a diff, then this thread might be useful. To summarize our...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Unfortunately fairly overcast but... DSC08567.JPG DSC08570.JPG Chuck Well, I got photos but yours are much better than mine. Was planning to travel to Walnut Ridge AR but weather looked a bit dodgy so switched to Paducah KY but it was looking a little cloudy so we stayed home and, between the rain ...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

Such a neat Beetle. I'm certainly not an expert painter but, FWIW, I usually brush-paint my driver's suit on the outside so it looks a bit more like fabric. Sometimes when I use a light color (most of mine are painted white), I'll lay down a quick coat of black first then followup with the final col...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

That's excellent work! Is there someone selling the printed interior/dash for the Beetle, or did he custom print and paint that? I'm not certain but I have seen other examples of his work and I believe everything you see is hand-painted. The guy is an artist! Anyway, I think Tamiya Metallic Green i...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

Wagner! I love it!! :D
Every time I hear that piece it reminds me of Apocalypse Now. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." "It smells like -- victory."
Great drone video and a great view as well.
