Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I'm just to bag E (shocks) so I'm no where near ready for wheels but I've been giving it some thought. For the front, I have a set of Bandit steering blocks (TR3636) that will accommodate hex drive wheels and they will reduce wheelbase by about 5mm. The Bandit blocks will require some minor mods to ...

Re: looks like we need a rere associated ReRe DS section next!

I don't think it's been mentioned but I've found another error with the manual. Page 14, rear shock install, step 7 shows the shock bushing with the flange toward the tower/bulkhead: new manual.JPG The bushing should be reversed as explained in the original manual (page 32): vintage manual.JPG After...

Re: RC10DS - Kit and Build review.

Drove the car yesterday and added more about the experience above. Really want to try this with some foam tires in the future. I also might try moving the rear swaybar endlinks to the middle holes and see what effect that gives me. Great review - thanks for posting. :D The original DS manual shows ...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Your boxart body looks amazing! Well done sir. 8) I've tried to use that plastic turnbuckle tool but it slips - they fit too tightly in the ballcups. I'm considering making a simple metal wrench. Have you set ride height yet? I've installed my rear shocks and at full droop, the arms are level which ...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Tamiya F104 tires are an option for stock wheels and handle darn good you also want 2° camber front and rear 🤙🏻 https://www.rc10talk.com/download/file.php?id=176803&t=1 That's a great option with the F104 slicks, looks exactly right. They look like they would fit a lot easier in aftermarket bod...

https://www.associatedelectrics.com/teamassociated/cars_and_trucks/RC10DS/Classic_Kit/parts_accessories/ We're getting DS tires soon (late August), listed at $30 for both front and rear! Arms and dogbones are available now. Perfect! 15 bucks for a full set of arms aint bad. Think I'll order a set, ...

Re: RC10 DS Classic parts - In Stock

Gotta love those (8) shock O-rings for $6! :D But kinding aside, I do appreciate when AE actually puts part support out there for their ReRes! Yeah, I agree the prices are inflated but I'm not complaining. They're giving us what we asked for. The drive gear appears to be the steel version not the a...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

FWIW, I always use Duplicolor clear lacquer for my hard body projects. It sprays and levels beautifully and wet-sands and polishes to a mirror finish - I wait at least 10 days for the clear to fully cure. Duplicolor lacquer doesn't react when applied over Tamiya TS or PS or Duratrax PC paint so it's...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

Your Grand Hauler with the tank is incredible! You need a thread for it here in the Tamiya section, would like to know if it has sound, lights, and how much is controlled from the Tx, and also where did the custom KW decals and the grill come from? Video of it cruising would pretty much get me to s...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Hmmm, I'm wondering if a Tamiya M06 chassis would fit your DC body. The M06's wheelbase is adjustable: 210mm, 225mm, 239mm - is that still too short? For width, it measures 5.9" across the wheel mounting faces on the hex drives. That leaves ~0.8" per side - might work if you mount wide whe...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Okay, let me make another suggestion. You've chosen a chassis with the correct wb BUT track width is wrong. Let's adjust the track width with a custom set of arms. I've done that here with this Scorcher project. This build was based upon a DT-02 chassis but the wb and track was wrong for the Scorche...

Re: RC10 DS Classic parts - In Stock

Thanks for the heads-up. Part prices are inflating while kit prices are deflating.
Anyway, I'd like to pick up a second kit.
I have arms, axles, bones and a few other parts on the way needed for a custom build but really like to have a second complete kit to build some day.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

The first batch of DS parts arrived today. Ordered on Monday, delivered on Thursday. Not too shabby. :D Anyway, AE didn't yet have the DS steering bellcrank set available for purchase so I'm going old school with my build. Those are genuine AE Stealth outdrives - never thought I'd seem them again. I...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

I have a theory.. Back in '80's, AE's molders practiced good QC and maintained their equipment such that nylon parts could be made without a color spec - they were truly 'natural' - and the final color was consistent. Today, TT (AE) sources from molders who don't maintain their equipment as well. Re...
