Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

Thanks again. The KW and Texaco livery decals were made on a Cricut vinyl cutter. My plan was (is) to install a sound and light system but after spending weeks building the truck, tanker and a flat bed trailer I sorta got burned out. I'll get back to it one day. Tamiya has their MFC (multi-function...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

How did you do the Kenworth decals, and emblem on the grill? The sprint car looks great! https://www.rc10talk.com/download/file.php?id=176868&t=1 Thanks again. Ya know, you really should get yourself a Tamiya truck. I think you would enjoy the build and I'm certain you would finish it to perfec...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Re: Part #: 6579 (Associated Diff Drive Rings) : This item has been discontinued

They made the new case (the new version of the 6565 and uses the old 6565 number) narrower between the bearings so you can't close the case if you try to install a vintage diff. You have to use the modern diff outdrives along with the case  To quote my old instructor at Ford, they could mess u...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

This should be another great build. I'm definitely looking forward to watching this one come together. :D FWIW, I also have that 911 body set but I'm still looking for the right wheels and tires; The body is a tiny bit large as compared to other 1/10 touring cars. Tamiya probably adjusted the scale ...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Yeah, I hate when they punch holes in the body. I understand they are trying to make assembling the kit easier for us but I like to use alternatives to body posts - i.e. inverted posts, magnets, etc. The 911 body set doesn't have holes. https://images.amainhobbies.com/images/large/tam/tam51543.jpg

I'm hanging out on youtube, waiting for FedEX to make a delivery https://www.rc4wd.com/ProductImages/Z-RTR/Z-RTR0070-14.jpg when I stumbled upon this beautiful amazing video. The soundtrack aint bad either. oWxbprvqvwY If you like ultra-scale crawling/trail trucks, you might want to check out his ch...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Yeah, cutting decals can be very time consuming but I always prefer to do it myself anyway. When they are die-cut, they never seem to trim close enough to the edge of the color which leaves this clear border that creates a visible edge that doesn't look so nice. The decals surrounding the headlights...

Re: Source Nix91 "Replica" Parts Without Shapeways??

Although it's been a while, I have used iMaterialize many times but I don't recall ever paying customs fees. Maybe it's because they have (or at least, had) a facility here in the US - I could be wrong about that. My experience with them has always been good. Anyway, I sincerely hope you are able to...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?

"... it's a serious commitment..." Nah, not really. Like a good set of hex drivers, an air brush is just another tool in your arsenal (sorry for the mixed metaphors  ).
And, you don't need to spend 300 bucks to get good results.
Go for it, man! :D

Re: Next up- The Halsey edition RC10

Cool car, pre-bent bumper is neat, and nice you won't have to chase down the front wheels, but inexplicably looks like the decals aren't going to be any more accurate than what's currently available. Though... has anyone noticed the complete disinterest the AE guys have for the re-releases. Each vi...

Re: Next up- The Halsey edition RC10

It’s a nice addition. I just wish it came painted. I will never be able to do a box art body on this or even the RC10T. Do not despair, the kit comes will a full decal sheet so you'll only need to shoot one color. :D https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/460630709_541070471639364_36457...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Everything is looking good so far. FWIW, I've found it best to apply decals for only 10 or 20 minutes, go do something else for a while then come back to it. Taking a break gives my eyes a rest and allows my hands to stop shaking. The window surrounds are especially tedious since there's almost no m...

Re: The 2WD buggy that handily beat the RC10 in 1987

Back in the mid to late 1980's, our local off-road track separated 2wd buggies into three classes; 540 (open to anything that wasn't an RC10, 27 turn, 6 cells), RC10 stock (27t, 6 cells), and RC10 modified (any motor, 7 cells). I wanted something to race in 540 so I bought an Ultima when they were f...
