Re: XL/XLS CAT or Original CAT SWB
Wow, what a pain! Sorry for your troubles. The eccentrics were revised to ease assembly - not a bad thing, that's for sure. I'd reckon that the front diff was a bit of an afterthought. The original car came with a spool and one-ways so when they added the diff, the case halves required revision. I ...

Re: Hello from Devon, UK
Welcome aboard Jason. That's a great find and at an awesome price. Well done sir! 8) You might want to do a thorough cleanup before deciding what to do about the scratches on the tub. I'm not aware of any process to touch up scratches and make them completely invisible. However, if the scratches ar...

Re: CNC side work
Sorry for the interruption, but this reminded of a comedian who said "Yeah, I mow lawns on the side. I pay another guy to do the front and back."

Re: Have ever noticed...
Windows were only removed for the Box art body to give it a realistic look for the photoshoot. That car may have never been run from what we know. But leaving the windows intact (uncut) gives the RC10 the best aerodynamic flow for running, and is what most every racer did.

Re: Have you noticed...
You've referenced an interesting feature on the motor plate. I've always found the presence, size and location of those two holes a bit of a mystery. Do you think they planned to attach something like an extruded aluminum heat sink then, after the production tooling was finished, decided it really ...

Re: What's everyone doing for ball studs?
Lunsford is still showing them, 4.3mm x 4-40.
Last ones I bought were HPI but were m3.
Occasionally, I see bags of used ones on Ebay.
Also, check CRC. They show 4-40 versions but don't list the ball size.
The Dubro 4-40 is huge.

Doug
Schumacher pro ball studs, best I remember, will work. They are the broached style though.
Custom Works Hex Drive Ball Studs look like a possible candidate though Amain is out.

Re: Have you noticed...
I do believe the reason for the two holes in the motor plates backside is for tooling, to hold it in the jig while the press comes down to create the two bends. Basically the two holes were for dowels to hold the plate firmly while the press comes down and bends the motor plate at 90 degrees and als...

Re: What's everyone doing for ball studs?
They are probably gone by now but I bought a bunch of the titanium nitride associated balls that are broached for a hex on top. I guess they were for the touring cars? But they will have to do for new builds. Another option is from dubro for steel balls. Last time I checked. I'm not sure if the stoc...
