Re: My RC10 (runner)

<RC10Mid Ver.2 Final> I felt that the car bounced too much. I changed the rear shock oil from ASC30 to ASC27.5 and added weights shown in the picture below. Then, the total weight was 1562 g with a thin shorty Lipo battery. RC10MID_12.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhaWYPo1j9A MhaWYPo1j9A Pleas...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)

Thanks Chuck. I might even have a partial can of the Dupicolor Silver - I need to look for that. Anyway, they look great. Something tells me you won't be running the car with those wheels. :D By the way, have you ever tried adhesion promoter on lexan? Curious if it will bond ordinary cheap rattle c...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)

3 of the shock ends that were on the car are pretty torn up and one was missing altogether. I've been trying to replicate the elusive ADj-1 lower shock mount. At least without paying $40 plus for 4 new ones. May have to go that route, but for now I'll try to mod some ends. First attempt, not so good...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)

Doug Can we assume the crease has crossed into the area without primer? Since this paint is lacquer based, it will become brittle over time so it could crack more easily after it cures completely - perhaps after a couple weeks or more. Acrylic enamel paint might be less prone to cracking. Cracking i...

Re: Front Hex wheels advantage??

I've done a fair amount of plastic part design with my work and I assumed the general shift from in-wheel bearings to hexs had a lot to do with manufacturability and, by extension, cost. Getting a good, consistent press fit requires good tolerance control. Pretty easy in metal, though it can get cos...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Reached 70 today and saw the first toad of the year in the driveway tonight after picking my daughter up from a school thing. Always nice to see as a sign of spring. Hard to believe these things survive the cold winters here.

Re: Turbo Mid Score

Made some good progress! The body is painted. I bought a NIP OTW-93 chassis, four new arms, upper chassis, servo mounts, a SWB belt, a Thorp hardened steel top gear, rear hubs and a favourite trick of mine-buying vintage Kyosho screw sets. They used all the same hardware in all their models, so I pic...

Re: new Losi 22s '69 Camaro No Prep RTR drag car

Out of the box this suckers pretty quick it gave me a run last weekend during testing..................................... Hmmm, interesting. I take it that you won the round? If the Losi is quick then maybe it should come as no surprise. Losi is arriving late to the no-prep drag scene so they woul...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)

True, but that would be no different for an open ball-end.

I guess that's why some cars went with those screw-in captured-ball-type ball-ends (pictured above) because even if they popped off, the screw would be there to retain them...until that ripped out instead. :)

Re: Early Nodis gearbox (Pre-Stealth)

Thanks for that info mate. I spoke to Richard Isherwood about that 4wd car and he told me that Nodis never completed it, which is a shame. I have a gearbox at the moment which is why I am trying to date it. Screenshot_20210318-152231.jpg Screenshot_20210318-152252.jpg Screenshot_20210318-152315.jpg ...

Re: Turbo Optima mid (SE???)

Put together the front diff with new gears. The gear set was actually cheap, so why not replace. Cleaned and lubed the bearings first. Then shimmed the side gears till there was little play with the pinions. Next adjusted the end play of the side gears to a minimum . Then spun the heck out of one of...

Re: Early Nodis gearbox (Pre-Stealth)

It looks to be just a pinion gear on a stubby shaft on the one side. Easy to replace, i guess. Reminds me a lot of the Brimod car set up.

Re: Turbo Mid Score

I enjoy this thread. What motor are you using? Better be a lemans! Thanks! I'm looking for a 240ST Le Mans. I have one in my Turbo Ultima, but I think it's staying there. Marwan's amazing tires arrived, it's all mocked up, ready for the new chassis, arms and the rest of the plethora of parts I've b...
