Re: Carbon Fiber Chassis repair
Started working on the front end repair. One of the holes was blown out and looking closely the other side hole was in the process of tearing out. I had been working on my other carbon and mixed some extra resin with captured dust from sanding the carbon fiber. I mixed the resin, carbon dust and fib...

Re: RC10 Buggy but 3D printed
May not be the exact same listing but a set like that was the first thing under "rc10 shocks", and this was also included. Screenshot_20230425_142335_eBay.jpg You sir have done more homework than I did. That's my failure. To be honest I'm not really concerned. The shorter shocks are about...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the beginner way (part2)
Last attempt on this batch of material. I went for the t2 I was successful with last year IMG_2136.jpeg This mold feels nice. I cast it directly on the chassis which is still scratchless. IMG_2138.jpeg I used 3.9 oz of fabric and made 4oz of resin, I think 3 still would have been in excess. I cut a ...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the beginner way (part2)
Fantastic results. With some room for improvement. IMG_2146.jpeg IMG_2147.jpeg IMG_2148.jpeg The demold wasn’t to challenging even though I made some mistakes on the layup. The parts need very little finishing on the outside surface. They have the look and feel of professional pieces. As well the mo...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the beginner way (part2)
First trim and weigh IMG_2153.jpeg Looks like this is a bit over built. At 5.7 oz it’s the same as the stock t2 aluminum chassis. It feels quite sturdy. Note: I targeted 3.0 mm since that was the rc10 graphite thickness. The tub shape must be thinner to allow proper nose piece mounting. Note: Discov...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the beginner way (part2)
An attempt at a more cosmetic chassis that is about 2.0 mm. I ordered some carbon fiber fabric off Amazon and I am not 100% convinced to it is actually carbon fiber. About 3.6 oz of fabric and 3.5 oz of epoxy with 3:1 medium hardener and this seemed correct. 2 coats of wax, man and parafilm release....

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way
I am working on making a 1 off chassis this way for a t-3 rtr. I am making this directly off the chassis with satin carbon fiber 5.5oz 4HS Satin Weave Carbon Fiber thin Epoxy with 4:1 fast resin IMG_2217.jpeg I made accidental diamond plate. IMG_2216.jpeg IMG_2213.jpeg IMG_2214.jpeg I removed the sk...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way
Nearly done with the t3 I finally can make nice nonwrinkled pieces IMG_2267.jpeg No wrinkles in the bag or release film IMG_2269.jpeg Nice smooth finish inside I am going to do a cosmetic layer to clean up the rear bulkhead. I may do another external layer if the diamond plate takes to long to fix T...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way
I did some filing and drilling to see how well the rear plate would fit and I was eventually able to get something that resembled what it was supposed to be. I decided that the black of the bulk head would be flat, and I would use shims along with locknuts to secure links, transmission and rear towe...

Re: Making a carbon fiber chassis the novice way
IMG_2373.jpeg Outside finished. There is one dry spot that did not get enough resin. The chassis weight in at 4.4oz vs 4.8 for the stock. It’s going to loose a little more when fully trimmed down. It’s not exactly a huge weight savings. It feels rigid enough to actually work. [*]Note : when skinnin...

Re: Carbonfiber T3 RTR
I got a couple of coats of clear on the chassis and it looks fantastic. All of the parts bolt up and the counter sinks have been added. IMG_2401.jpeg IMG_2400.jpeg As well the Eastwood 2k clear is really amazing. I’m using the can I had leftover from last year and it still works. The rear mount is a...

Re: Carbonfiber T3 RTR
My projects would go a lot faster if I didn’t try to make custom parts for each one. The chassis was together well enough to build the front end and start on the rear. IMG_2408.jpeg IMG_2409.jpeg I kept it stock except for, rpm front bumper, rpm rear arm mounts, xpeede dust covers and fastener expres...
