So you think the aluminum will hold up to a 17.5+ brushless?

Re: It begins for A1003 reproduction

I vote for strength. That way I can "save" all my actual Losi ones. Do you have any feel for a time frame at this point? Time frame is unknown right now. The original plan had been to do the Losi version and we had the CAD work all done and 3D printed to test it was all good. But then I t...

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

Bending my life away  I've come up with an idea for the rear, transmission guard tubes but not sure if it's going to stay, may re-do it, if so, need more tubing. :? C2Tuberrrcage.jpg C2Tuberrrcage2.jpg Hey Nomad.... Been giving this some thought. How about something like this? RC10 rear tu...

Excellent idea! Of course, the trick then would be to remove the weld so it looks like one piece. I'd bet Nomad could handle that with no problem. :D
That's how they sometimes handle it on 1:1 scale. :) Bevel the ends for a stronger joint and deeper weld.

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

Looking pretty awesome! I need to invest in a tig machine to go with my mig machine... lots of 1:1 parts to make.

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

Looks good Nomad. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when you posted yesterday's pic of the completed cage but now seeing it assembled on the car, it looks perfect. With the benefit of hindsight, do you think it would have been better to use solid aluminum rod rather than tube (i.e. easier to bend ...

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

"Mess", what mess? It looks great!
Now, if I'd done it, it would have looked like chicken poop or bubble gum.

It seems a crime to cover all that nice craftsmanship but I guess, since it's a buggy, it will need some kind of a body... or will it? :?:

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

Did you use any heat when bending? I wonder if some heat or annealing would help? Another trick for bending is filling the tube with sand, but that helps prevent collapse of the tube.

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

I know it’s for smaller wire but when I saw this clip on Facebook I immediately thought of this thread. Might be a handy idea for something in the future

Re: RC10 Factory Works C2 "Tuber" Build

Looks fine to me as well. Did you bend it over a piece of tubing? That curl at the trailing end looks really good. Will you screw it to the cage using some of your 0-80 hardware? The stainless screws against the aluminum will look great. Can't wait to see what you have in mind for the rest of the ca...
