It certainly gave a good like-for-like comparison, particularly for standard 27T motors. We used to get handed hand-picked MG motors when we were competing the standard class, and those motors always consistently gave around 2-3000rpm more than the off-the-shelf equivalents we had tested previously....

Excellent question. That would be pretty cool to see a 4wd ds. I would say there needs to be some custom work on the front end to fit the trans.

Those early check point motors used slot car sized brushes and springs.
I never had them, but I would assume you could just use the slot car shunt wire too. Solder the one end to the hood and tuck the other between the spring and brush.
