Re: So Cal Vintage On Road TC Race Jan 28th, 2024
The battery options are interesting. Sub C NiCd is heavy, but an SCR pack can put out a lot of voltage when at peak charge. Presumably 2S lipo would still be the preferred choice. If only this wasn't so far away.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
New 3D Printer. Sovol SV06 Plus. Hopefully this gives me less headaches than my knockoff Ender3. Bit bigger, can run a lot hotter so i can do Nylon, and has a lot better motion system and interface. Bonus is It auto levels the bed. IMG_20231128_210405451.jpg Are you going to add an enclosure? It he...

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
A light oiling of them is good to do also. I oil mine with 3 in 1 machine oil and then absorb/blot the excess with a paper towel.

Re: RC10CC classic clear wait list....
I sometimes order direct from Associated, but when I can save both shipping and taxes (for non-FL res) on a big ticket item I'm happy to go elsewhere. My last 3 purchases (including pre-paid RC10CC preorder) were from here: . Screenshot_20231201-084305.png . Screenshot_20231201-084324.png . Screensh...

Derustification the Frankentruck way
I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner yet, but wanted to get this B3 buggy cleaned up. Yes I know it's missing 1 dog bone. Other than that, it's practically new. My kid would say it's lit and I'm cap. Thanks? 😁 . PXL_20231201_155450644~2.jpg . PXL_20231201_164101195~2.jpg . My required materials and eq...

Wheel discoloration
My B2 buggy has some yellow 3 piece wheels that would be pretty cool if they weren't discolored in spots. Some of the places make me think it could be from rusty parts, but other places seem like they wouldn't be. Has anyone tried successfully to remove red/orange discoloration like this? Or are the...

Re: Derustification the Frankentruck way
It was getting pretty swampy looking after 4.5 hrs so I changed out for some fresh CLR.

Drained, rinsed, and towel drying. . PXL_20231202_180823129~2.jpg . A few notes: 1. If there was anything on thd screw threads (like nylon) you will see it. Some of the screws have a ring on them. 2. Any steel that was zinc plated will likely lose the zinc and other parts may get white spots (like t...

Re: Derustification the Frankentruck way
Before bluing, parts got rinsed with isopropyl alcohol and then patted down with a paper towel to remove the excess. . For the bluing, it's good to use a container that you can cover all the parts without needing a lot of the fluid. Cover isn't exactly the right word. I add enough to half cover and ...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
A really nice Monster came my way this weekend. Well, nice condition at least. 🤣 The Hornet body isn't quite the same but no need to get in a rush replacing it. I still have plans to make my own version, but it's great to have the original "What were they thinking?!?!" kluge buggy too. . P...

Re: Derustification the Frankentruck way
The bluing fluid is actually a blue tint out of the bottle. The steel ends up with a black oxide protective coating. I used light weight 3 in 1 machine oil, like is used for sewing machines and general mechanism lube. Somebody else will have to go over the vinegar question, but it's probably for the...
