Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...

I have 2 Mercury at home currently. The one from my friend and mine. Both have deformations in the chassis, making the measurement difficult. There is still some new parts available somewhere in France, and even at reasonnable prices. I decided to order a chassis, and few other additional parts... T...

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...

After the diff assembly, there was an easy part sitting on the desk... https://i.imgur.com/KwfS1Wa.jpg The diffs are mounted in excentrics, and those are used to set the belt tension. https://i.imgur.com/0582wdU.jpg After that, I started to look at the shock towers. https://i.imgur.com/k6q0hqX.jpg T...

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...

I tackled all the remaining transmission parts... Nothing difficult with straight pinion. This is not like bevel gears, it is easy... The central diff includes a central gear, to satellite, and internal gear running around all of this. https://i.imgur.com/EAUSBzT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yOR9aya.jpg ...

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...

Once the chassis, is in, we can play with then transmission... https://i.imgur.com/hNbcvkV.jpg I started to put the diffs in, then brought the transmission in the design, and noticed I need bearings... Thankfully, they are not much cost in CAD :-) https://i.imgur.com/IhjTWDT.jpg I added the bearings...

Re: Graupner/Mugen Mercury CAD model...

So the middle diff has a slipper clutch built in so it acts a bit like the Samurai or CAT transmission? Very nice work so far . It looks like. That being said, I'm not sure t actually works. There is 4 spring washers in the setup. there is 2 friction washers, but one of them is enclosed between two...

Today, tackled the bumper first... Not much complexity, as it derives from the front of the chassis for the profile and the position of the fixation points... https://i.imgur.com/jGQDBXn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8Kk8gwg.jpg It was directly added in the overall chassis assembly... https://i.imgur.com/...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

My Mugen Mercury was cheap... Probably because some work is required. Some of the grub screws heads are dead...

Re: Kyosho 30615 - Tomahawk

I did built multiple Kyosho legendary series, and making the shocks has a small but important step which is always difficult. Positionning the shock gasket. It even happened that I broke one whhen building my Turbo Scorpion, back in 2021. At that time, I had no 3D printer, and thanks, there was some...

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...

Happy New Year 2024 to everyone. 2023 was quite an impressive year with a lot of things I've done which I could have seen as impossible just few years back... The main lesson : failure is part of the success and you will learn from it, and each failure is a step closer to the success. And in terms ...

Re: Kyosho 30615 - Tomahawk

Welcome in 2024 :-) I have decided to work out the rx/esc placement on this chassis... So I opened the last bag, put the upper deck in place and the steering rod as well... https://i.imgur.com/km1a4wx.jpg And the wheels (tires are not glued yet, they are just out of their box). the parts remaining i...

Re: Kyosho 30615 - Tomahawk

Today, I received and answer to my mail to Kyosho Europe asking for my address to send a replacement part. This means I should be able to proceed soon. I took the time to work out my ESC Tray for the Tomahawk. It will be fixed on the rear shock tower, using the same screws that are used for the rear...
