Re: Tamiya M06 - Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA

Lovely build!!! The body is a beauty. I'm not a Tamiya guy but i had to get two Tamiya Volkswagen Karmann Ghia kits last summer with intention of finishing the two towards end of 2021. So far, I've only managed to partially build one with ball bearings as an upgrade. The chassis is basically done m...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

You're probably right about the plating. One benefit however is that the plating makes bearings fit nice and snug. Unfortunately, the axles are undersize so the wheels wobble. :( Tamiya crap! Anyway, I agree with you about the light cases - with their exposed interior screw bosses, they're absolute...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

That's an interesting decal sheet - i wasn't aware Traxxas was offering it. Back in my hot rod days (70's and 80's), I've bought parts from most of the manufacturers represented on that sheet. Really brings back memories. Anyway, here's what I'm doing for rear springs - FYI. I think they are RC10T ...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

The steering tie rods are very short and to achieve zero toe angle, they will thread into the ball cups with only a few turns. The manual instructs you to trim-off the wrench flats from the end of the ball cups making the thread engagement even less if not done properly (step 30, page 15). Apparent...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

As promised, I'm documenting the step now... As usual, I started by mounting the tires on the wheels. I did not glue them, I definitely suspect they will need to be glued with the 13.5T brushless motor, but I'm not sure yet if I'll run with those wheels... I'll glue them once decided... https://i.im...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

As mentioned yesterday, I had to think about a way to secure my 2 mm screws. Either by changing then by bigger screws, but the light bucket may not like this, or by setting something better with 3D parts... I designed 2 parts for this. They will enclose the regular 3mm hole in the chassis to make it...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Today was the time to get into the metal part bag B, which was opened after the dinner. Step 17 - Setting the right part of the gearbox I started to put all parts for step 17 and step 18 together on the plate and test the fitting. It moves freely on both side, and there is no issue with the washer i...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

I finally went back on doing something on the Wild One today... It was mainly about electronics. First, I prepared the servo. https://i.imgur.com/VZbsnwE.jpg It's one which is way overkill, but since I have those one in the boxes, the wild one is one of the car that allows to use it because of the r...

Re: More Tamiya shenanigans or something else?

Anyway, comparing the specs, it appears that the biggest difference between the '02 and the '04 is the max continuous amp rating (60 vs 75). Yes, it's also a bit confusing as it should be able to handle a 10.5T easily with those specs, while the instructions says no lower than 15.5T... I'm not fami...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

Wanted to get things moving forward, knowing that I would not finish it anyway today, as I'm still undecided about sponsors stickers and I still have a the sensor cable to put in. I started my afternoon to work on the body of the pilot. First priority, remove the additional unrequired 12 fingers per...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

XLR8 , seems that this went crazy in my mind while in meetings in the afternoon... I think I can do better than the one I found on Cults3D. At the end of my day, I took the caliper to do some rough measurement, and went back to the drawing board... And started somthing... https://i.imgur.com/xHW2Hj...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

I didn't want to call it done today, so only made some steps today (it won't be possible to finish it until I have a dashboard printed and fine tuned anyway)... I started to cut out the windows net and the rear number plate (and due to my brushless set up, I had to adapt the right side). https://i.i...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

It took time, and I used a raft to go over my Printer bed adhesion issues, but it's finally here. https://i.imgur.com/pZwgY7C.jpg I still need to do some work on it (priming, paint, and some finish), but I tested it quickly on the Wild One, and it is just the right sizes... It maybe difficult to see...
