Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

At this stage I'd be thinking of building a printed runner and doing a shelf queen repair on the broken chassis .

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

Pipe is awkward from what I remember , I had more luck using sweep or just making it square and adding fillets later . As I recall pipe often won't go as far as you want or follow the path you want , it's a pain but it's fairly likely I was doing it wrong

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

Not sure if you ever watched Married with Children but in one episode Kelly’s brain could only take in so much information before she started forgetting everyday things. This is my exact situation when dealing with Fusion360. My mind is blown with what you have done here while learning. Very nice wo...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

The only time I tried bevel gears i did it by making a cone and drawing the gear profile on the edge and sweeping , then making a circular pattern of the teeth , but then I was just making a mad hatter's watch for cos-play , nothing like this and I couldn't find a bevel gear add on in Fusion so I ju...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

I did bevel gears once but I cheated even worse. I found the closest ones I could on sdp.si (I think…. Might have been somewhere else) and grabbed the cad file they provide. Modified the cad file for my own use.

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

You always see the sun gear being bigger than the planetary gears , if they were equal the gears would either need to be tiny and weak or big and the diff would be very wide , plus the sun's bigger than a planet so sun gears have got to be bigger see  Glad your designing the gears not me , loo...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

.... (the only question I ask myself is why am I doing all of this? ) I reckon it's because you find the work interesting, it increases your knowledge of the car you are modeling and it adds another dimension to the hobby. Besides, virtual vintage RC's never break, they never get scratched or...

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff

Just for a giggle I printed another Marui Samurai in one piece from the assembled CAD file . IMG_20220320_185326_350.jpg IMG_20220320_185335_753.jpg Ultimately it failed as two wheels came out flat on the bottom. IMG_20220320_185347_539.jpg Before you judge too harshly look at it next to my white Sa...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

The new chassis looks ace :D The only time I did a thin body I designed it as a block then hollowed it , then used Vase mode to print it and cut away to shape it . It's somewhere in my Yo-Clone-oh thread , nothing fancy just a copy of a Funco Half body , I did do body panels for my SRB Funco replica...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

Well firstly I'm a 52 year old dyslexic technophobe mechanic , never had any kind of office job let alone CAD experience but I studied design technology , sculpture and graphical communication in school , when I started 3d printing I looked at SketchUp , Tinkercad , Blender and Fusion 360 as the bes...

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind

What I would say is I wish Fusion 360 way there when I was a kid ! With access to this as a kid my life may well have been very different , it's like magic that I can have an idea in the morning and an object in my hand in the afternoon . I have lath and mill and before Fusion and a 3d printer those...

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff

Started remodelling up gears from scratch for the Dogfighter 834b , did a far cleaner job this time and I've got them being printed by Shapeways now , if they turn out good I'll add them to my shop . 834b gearbox copy v15 2.png 834b gearbox copy v15 1.jpg 834b gearbox copy v15.jpg Then moved on to t...
