Re: ** 2024 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - Adrenaline R/C Raceway - Winchester, VA - Sept. 6-8 **
Yes you definitely need to bring your own vintage hobby shop whenever you are running especially harder to find models. If I'm racing my B2 or b3 for instance, whichever one I'm not racing becomes my backup. Plus I have spares. For my rc10, like Reg said, spares come along and the vonats crew is pre...

Re: ** Jconcepts Vintage Clash of Champions and Old School Reunion - Hoosier R/C Hobbyplex, New Albany, IN - March 28-30
Blinky mode provides no boost. It is advantageous to run an adjustable timing stock motor to get maximum performance. You can run a fixed timing motor but the static timing may not be optimized.

Re: Did you ever or do you race now?
Never formally raced in the golden years. I had a tiny oval-ish track in my backyard but I wouldn't consider it an oval nor am I an oval racer. Basically two drag strips connected with turns. Fast forward after first car, college, work, wife, kids I dusted off my stuff for my boys to play with and f...

Re: What your workstation looks like?
Work benches are pricey unfortunately. Sometimes you can go the home stores in the area and find drop or reject countertops Formica or other wood based. They make great bench tops, or you can buy a sheet of 3/4" plywood and rip it into two sheets that you stack for a solid table top. A few 2x4s...

Re: Hand-wound motors
I used to rewind motors. I had a few spools of some various magnet wires. Just looked at specs of different motors for how many winds and the wire gauge so I figured about how many turns a specific wire gauge would fit. But the biggest issue is I never knew what kind of solder/braze to use on the co...

Re: What was I thinking?? The R/C Edition
Yeah lightening holes in a few things.
Cutting the kickup off a really nice jrx2 chassis.
Probably others I'm not thinking of. Umm getting back into the hobby and quadrupling (or more) my collection?

Re: best way to remove solder from motor cans?
If you want to save the label, I would honestly just shave it off with a fresh xacto blade, kind of like whittling a stick. Then follow up with a Dremel with a wire wheel or buffer/sanding drum. If you use the drum do it very carefully so you don't dig into the can.

Re: Economic Viability of an R/C Track
Economics and attitude are everything. I agree that there is limited middle ground between 'bashing' and 'hardcore racers'. Organized events while fun can be intimidating and there should be a better socialization of novice or sportsman classes. That's where people without much experience or limited...
