Re: EXamples of stamped vs Milled shock towers

they are punched in a die set, and the edges will be somewhat rounded. they will seem kinda......furry. the color will be lighter, whitish. the machined edge will be nice and crisp and the edges will be pretty much same color as the base material. In the image below of two very dirty towers, the lef...

Re: The RC10 4wd (or how AE stole the Ten4 project)

I honestly can't imagine that this isn't a joint effort with MIP. Like MIP supplies the axles, shafting etc. AE supplies the molded plastics. It makes no business or financial sense for them both to bring out independent offerings. especially given the MIP reluctance for yeeaaars.

Re: ReRe rear dogbones popping out

The only fix you need is to put the shock on the outer hole in the arm, and add shock internal limiters to reduce droop so the bone does not disengage. You can also place the blue spacer on the axle on the inside to bias the bone inwards. Honestly guys that aren't really builders (regardless of what...

Re: My graveyard of carcasses has arrived

Nothing extra special with the clean chassis. You have a nicely modded chassis for a nice build though. If you plan to run it eventually, put some chassis tape on it to keep it clean.

Re: ** Jconcepts Vintage Clash of Champions and Old School Reunion - Hoosier R/C Hobbyplex, New Albany, IN - March 28-30

Yeah the track surface is like a dragstrip with the sealed surface. The layout is awesome. The surface is quite a challenge and super tricky to get right. Long days though with so many entries. Really cool to see these guys you've seen in magazines just hanging out in the pits. Chatting them up is p...

Re: ** 2025 RC10Talk.com Roostpalooza - April 12-13 - Insanity Race Track - Boonton, NJ **

as mentioned, the classes are defined so you can run brushed or brushless. I know Mark W. was running something with a brushed motor, I'm not sure which class. For ease of maintenance, most guys will opt for lipo and brushless, its just so much more power and simple. I run old lipo packs, 5000Mah, n...

Re: Resistor Question For The Experts (Not RC Related)

yes, you are correct in your assumptions/investigation of the resistor. 22K, 5%, 2W axial. I suspect given the power rating and value it's part of the high voltage section, current carrying divider or something. Replacing that should bring things online if everything else checks out. you can unsolde...

Re: Kinwald Mirage SS Body - Scribe Lines

trick is to go slowly and make small cuts. you know roughly how tall the pan is, so your bottom cuts should start there plus some maybe 1/2" or so. then you have to align the rear shock tower and trim out that area so the body will start to sit on the chassis. you can grab another used body and...

Re: Kinwald Mirage SS Body - Scribe Lines

Yes it works great. On more extensive cuts with the stone, the polycarbonate kind of gets a built up edge, which you can slice off with your xacto, or bend it back and forth to break it off, because it kind of gums up instead of grinding away. But the trimmed edge is nice and clean after.

Re: Bulk cleaning and restoring a lot of screws

for steel, originally black oxide screws: use simple green in your ultrasonic cleaner, rinse and dry. put into a container with a rust converter of your choice, I have and use the brand Krud Kutter, it's sort of greenish blue and smells terrible. Leave it sit until you achieve a good uniform dark fi...

Re: Are these shocks meant to have air in them?

Yes they are emulsion shocks and need air in them to function properly. It takes a little bit of practice to bleed without the bleeder screws.
