Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

Wagner! I love it!! :D Every time I hear that piece it reminds me of Apocalypse Now. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." "It smells like -- victory." Great drone video and a great view as well. Much thanks! The Ride, or The Flight of the Valkyries, depending on how you ...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

I remember having difficulty with the windows on my beetle. They are still a little hazy, kinda like darker tint on a car. I think that I used an X-Acto knife and hair dryer to remove the bubbles. I also put decals on with Windex, which seems to help when pushing bubbles out. I tried warm water and...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

I dig the graphics  The coolest buggy's were always loud colors with contrasting stripes. With the decals laid, some numbers, and a few contingency stickers it'll look rad. 👍 Green Beetle Graphic.jpg www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/105899-kyosho-beetle-2014/ That settles it, abou...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

These decals don't seem as obvious, without the white border. Miss the white border of the backing paper now. https://i.imgur.com/VN3Y2Z9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Z8ckBkL.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NwpsyEd.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jkOZx9h.jpg The front windshield looks nasty, like I drove it through a fi...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

The sponsor decals will turn it up a bit, very true. I'm going to have to borrow another excellent idea for the decals, from XLR8 again, sorry if I am misattributing this to the wrong person, it was mentioned a while ago. https://i.imgur.com/xlbfwWm.jpg Going to try to do a composite decal scheme, w...

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

Thanks for the visor tips, that's definitely a great idea! Peterson's visor is the hard part to replicate, if the boxart is strictly adhered to, it has the sun visor portion. I've seen a pic of someone having done that properly, and the jacket in cloth too. https://i.imgur.com/n1HJgpb.jpg Depailler ...

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

Those goggles are ace ! Etsy is full of these, in Steam Punk, and about every other style you can think of: miniature 1:10 scale goggles - and then clicking on images - got me those goggles above, and led me to Etsy. Most seem to be made for 1/6, 1/12, or 1/18. 1/10 seems to be missing unfortunatel...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

If it's this one you were thinking about, P1010331.JPG ... feel free to "borrow" the livery. It wasn't my idea anyway. post-6936-1290545883.jpg For some reason I was thinking it was you who did the Blitzer Beetle, in the Baja 500 scheme. Sorry about that, you had the sweet Centerlin...

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

I really do appreciate that level of detail, and the skill and patience it takes to make a scale model exceptional. I've never had the patience, or skill. Saw someone selling a broken vintage P34 like the one below a couple of months ago, and when I found this 2022 RI model, I had to test myself. ht...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

Well, I guess it could be. This body has bounced around a lot lately. P1010904.JPG The BB was converted to a Stadium Blitzer a couple months back and the BB body has landed on a custom DT-02 chassis. P1010924.JPG ... for now anyway. :D That was it! I thought I had read about the Holiday Buggy, or t...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

Used a sharp Xacto blade to remove the mold flashing from the fenders. https://i.imgur.com/uXYXlvb.jpg When I screwed the front nose on, the gap was pretty bad, and was causing it to look crooked, or higher on the passenger side. Got it screwed together so it can't move, and put putty on it. https:/...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

Nice! You did a great job on those bodies. Blitzer looks like the Monster Beetle next to the DT-02 I love old air cooled VW, the Bus is the one that I can't get enough of. I bought (4) Tamiya VW Bus bodies, and have been looking for a place to put the last (2). Lunch Bus? :D https://i.imgur.com/46vZ...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

Yeah, the nose fits very tight between the fenders without paint. I can't see how you could install it after paint. Not without scratching it anyway. I paint mine as an assembly. On the Blitzer Beetle body (maybe SS body as well), there was an odd recess above the front fenders (ahead of the gas do...

Re: 2014 Kyosho Beetle

This servo might be overkill for this model, going to need to setup the D/R to slow it down. iumBL66WRtM Bought the ebay cheapy LED kit for $14, it's less expensive if you get the one without the fake Tamiya sticker on it. This one comes with (12) LED's, and I only need (2) for the Beetle, so I'll h...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

Looking good. You're brave to tackle the nose-body gap. I chickened out on mine. Yours looks really smooth, excellent prep work! Is that with the primer on it? Going to prep the body today by roughing the exterior to get it ready for primer. The weather has not been good for painting anything...
