Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!
Tested out an HPI body on my TDP chassis, this has about a 10.28" wheelbase, or 261mm. https://i.imgur.com/w5k9mU3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KMEZQFU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CZWBqSF.jpg The front bumper on the chassis is keeping the body pushed towards the rear, but the DS should be able to use th...

Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!
Ooh, great choice!! I've been looking at that TA body myself. It looks a little wide but otherwise, it appears that HPI did a great job replicating the 1:1. I wonder what wheels are used in the photo :?: The original '78 Firebird snowflake wheels are hard to fake. https://cdn1.mecum.com/auctions/sc...

Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!
Just hit the HPI website for some answers: The wheels on the TA in the photo are discontinued but I'm sure Tamiya and others make a similar wheel. The TA body is 200mm x 254mm wheelbase so it won't simply drop-on the DS without some work. Having integrated wheel flares might limit how the wheel arc...

Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!
My DS shipped out of Hobby-Sports in Michigan today, via USPS, scheduled delivery is this Saturday the 10th. Going to try for the box art on the stock body, I do really like it. https://img2.associatedelectrics.com/pictures/news/articles/2859/supporting_photos/8082-RC10DS-body%203qtr-high_lg.jpg Any...

The Roast of Gene Simmons is blacklisted on Youtube, people had to resort to making low def cam videos to get by the blocker.
The impressions start at about 1:30.

RC10 DS Classic - Build

I'll be fitting the Stock body on this chassis with the black and green boxart. Will also fit a couple custom bodies to this chassis, and may get another DS at some point for those.

Time to get started.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
In the manual the wheels and tires are Bag H, found on the second to last page. Apologies for doing this out of order, it's a habit I can't break. https://img2.associatedelectrics.com/pdf/cars_and_trucks/RC10DS/Classic_Kit/RC10DS-Vintage-Manual-2024-V1.pdf The front tires are really thin and pliable...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
I took a look at the paint required for the DS boxart. The black would be Tamiya PS-5, but the green is a bit harder to figure out. https://img2.associatedelectrics.com/pictures/cars_and_trucks/RC10DS/Classic_Kit/photos/8082-RC10DS-side_lg.jpg https://shop90375.sfstatic.io/upload_dir/shop/Tamiya/_th...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Taking a break, about done with Bag A.

Was not expecting the foam dust covers, like the ones that originally came with my '96 CE and '97 GT kits.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Steering plate finished. https://i.imgur.com/HBVz6fU.jpg The ball cups had to have the sprue trimmed off of them still. Used the old AE kit tools to build the turnbuckles, no marks left anywhere. https://i.imgur.com/iQiR7x2.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CTmFFqu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1g1EygE.jpg Ran into...
