Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Having difficulty figuring out the shock seals and spacers. On the tree are (4) thick spacers in the yellow box, and (8) thin ones with a bevel that looks like they ride on the o-rings on one side, in the red box: https://i.imgur.com/3KxjUPo.jpg Manual shows (5) spacers and seals per shock, and show...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

These shocks really are nice quality, the chassis is smooth and the anti-roll should make it hold well in the turns. Looking forward to driving this one.
Stealth is next.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
No where in this manual do they show the diff grease, or where it goes: https://i.imgur.com/jsJ6Ary.jpg The kit includes the diff grease, but it has a part number on it, no name on it, and the manual never calls for any grease on the diff. I know what it is and where it goes, but someone new, or the...

Diff lube applied. https://i.imgur.com/E0KrNFZ.jpg The Packing grease the outdrives have on them is dirty, make sure to clean the diff ring surfaces well with alcohol. https://i.imgur.com/HTpASPL.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8cIoML0.jpg Manual shows thrust bearing as a separate set of balls that goes aro...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
The classic exhibited similar issues as well. Seems they need an editor and build tester over there. AE if you're listening, I can help you out with this. Seems like we're already doing the testing and manual revision for them, for free . At least I got a working DS out of it. I would apprecia...

Always welcome! Drag Mags were aftermarket wheels, early 60's to early 70's muscle cars. On your Vette the DS wheels really do look better without the caps. By the way... "Let me have a diablo sammich, a Dr Pepper and make it fast. I'm in a g d hurry. -- Buford T. Justice" ...hands down b...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Going to cut both bodies today, with a new blade for each. Getting my courage and a steady hand ready for this - not a fan of this part of it. Hoping one day I can somehow look forward to doing the bodies, like I do the chassis; this last year has been me trying my hardest to get there. https://i.im...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
I hate cutting wheel wells, probably because I suck at them. I found these drift wheels for my bandit build. At the time DS wheels were crazy expensive and these were pretty cheap so what the heck. 17233288821560.jpg Those are as close as I've seen to the real thing. Are those still obtainable on e...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
That TA decal set is impressive! It includes tinting for windows and even the T-tops. I don't have a Pontiac in my on-road collection. Can no longer resist - ordering one now. :D HPI bodies are as good as it gets imo, I really appreciate their attention to detail. The Kyosho Fazer MK2 RTR b...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Cutting out lexan bodies, I've seen it recommended to use the corner of a table to get a solid surface behind your #11 blade cut lines. This has worked well for me. But I need to be able to stand up and do this, sitting down and cutting on the table, is too difficult. I taped up three boxes to provi...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
I'm fine with the 261mm wheelbase, which in the manual is the only possibility, I have no desire to lengthen the wb, only shorten it maybe, which is not possible, the instructions have you build the shortest wheelbase possible. I'm good with that. I'm left to assume this is why the stock DS body has...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Waiting to remove the masking a bit longer. I do have Tamiya Polycarbonate Paint remover, in case I have to clean up any bleed. https://i.imgur.com/yDCQiTI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/w2aNpBC.jpg I cannot figure out how to cut this wing to make it look like the box. Going to look at the vintage manual t...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
Some rough spots.

Will put the PS-21 Park Green layer on tomorrow when it gets here. You can't really tell how good or bad it is until the overspray film is off.
