Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

After looking at pictures and reading numerous posts, here’s my best estimate on the wheels: Rear - 1.5” OD, 1.3” Width, 0.15” Negative Offset, Foam Tires Front - 1.5” OD, 0.7” Width, 0.19” Negative Offset, Foam Tires with 4 grooves Does this seem reasonable? Hopefully I calculated the offset corre...

1/1 Wild One Max

Not sure if everyone saw this but it looks pretty cool, not very fast but I'd give it a go.

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

@Phin, to make certain I'm understanding the dimensions completely: The front wheels are 1.7" diameter/no-hub/RC10 bearings - the rear wheels are 1.6" diameter/no-hub/RC10 bearings. Would you happen to know the width of the front and rear wheels, also? I need to be able to tell the CNC ma...

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

Here ya go...MarkyDents has MM wheel dimensions posted here: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=521900#p521900

They're the 3 slot version (A10-F3S & R3S) but dimensions should be the same.

Re: Spun aluminum RC10 wheels

@MarkyDents, did you ever get tires for these? I'm trying to get the 5 bean version of these Mini-Mags reproduced, would you mind if I used your excellent pics to show the machinist how it was done? Can I also use your pics for reference in my, RC Corvette The Dead Pool thread? Those rims are sweet...

She makes custom decals. If you ask, she will make them in "reverse", so they go on the inside of the lexan.

Re: (2) RC10GT's - Black Tub and Plastics - #7065

Am I remembering correctly that you'd mentioned a dilemma with your antenna and not wanting to poke a hole in the body for it? Was thinking you did so I've been looking for an RCCA Pit TIp from back in the day. Earlier today BattleTrak posted an article from the issue which had the Pit Tip I was loo...

Hmmm.... yep... Page 5, Spektrum SR3000/ 3001 Pro Rx/ Futaba 3PJS... plain as day. I wonder who it was I'd been looking for the Pit Tip then.🤔 ....oh well, whoever didn't want to poke a hole in their body, there ya go ! ...and we now return to the regularly scheduled RC10GT builds already in p...

Re: Tamiya Poly-Carbonate Metallic Paint - Backing colors

That's why I always do test strips with lexan scraps. That way, you can test different backing colors.

Maybe try putting different color pieces of paper behind the paint to get an idea.

This is about all you can do this deep into it. The backing can change what you have there in about a dozen different ways.

With that said, I would think a silver would get you where you want to be.

Re: Tamiya Poly-Carbonate Metallic Paint - Backing colors

Also keep in mind that lighting effects the color, as seen. Metallic and florescent colors have very noticeable changes.

This is Tamiya Metallic Burgundy, backed in gunmetal.

It shines and sparkles in the sun but looks extremely dark inside.

That still can be done! Do some spray outs on scrap pieces with different backing colors until you achieve the result you're the happiest with for the final product.

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

Maybe a dab of white behind the chrome paint to keep the black from darkening it. The black probably should have been done before the chrome.
