Crawler motors, yes, but some of the best brushed motors on the market.

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

I’m going retro-mod on this and darn it’s hard to find current production (non-crawler) brushed motors for dirt buggies. Thinking the Tamiya Sport Tuned is the easy answer. Any other suggestions? To keep this on topic, a Re-re AE brushed 540 motor would be the icing on the cake for these anniversar...

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

I was not charged tax in Idaho. I have been charged tax with AE before but not on this one. I suspect within Cali they are pretty much locked into charging tax on all orders but other states may have thresholds you have to hit before collecting and distributing tax is required. It's a giant pita sin...

Re: Spray Paint types for Lexan

I was going to use my local westco auto body supply shop but there machine or something was broke and they didn't know when it would be repaired. Ah, gotcha, you were looking at a wait either way. Bummer. Based on the Prop 65 stickers on everything these days it would seem so ...but I'll leave the ...

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

I think its more about the company doing business in cali, since they are based there. If they had multiple locations, then those states would be taxed for certain as well. Technically im sure they have exceeded the threshold in all states but interstate tax laws are so hard to follow. My "pick...

I think that is the typical loop hole that benefits out of state shoppers.

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

Just got my invoice, it does have the Lake Forest CA address, and included my tracking number from UPS; just the label was printed, so no movement or details yet. I'll update this when my label goes through, after 9pm here. I saw New York was scheduled for delivery tomorrow, elsewhere. Is everyone'...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

Honestly, I don't recall sanding the primer. Maybe if I found sand scratches projecting through the primer or some rough spots, I might have used 1000 grit or finer but only on those spots. Since I typically use lacquer based paints (i.e. Tamiya TS or Duplicolor) which, I think, melt into the primer...

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

I think when I did my scorcher body I did wet sand the primer with 1500 before spraying color on it.

Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

If you plan running it in dirt and grass the diff is nice but in the sand the stock gear works best.

Giveaway for 40th owners- collecting tub numbers

Little giveaway for owners of the 40th anniversary kits to see who has the highest kit number *edit- AND LOWEST NUMBER*. Since AE won't tell us the total number made we will have to see if we can approximate it by collecting numbers ourselves. I'm doing this on Facebook here https://www.facebook.com...

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

I saw that, 3 sold then suddenly they are gone. Looks like the scalpers bought Amain's entire inventory. I watched that happen too. Wondering why Amain ended their auction, if they still have more than 10 available. I'm order 2628, placed the order just before midnight PST, on April 15. My la...

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

Sweet buggy, looks like you picked up a really good looking car. I don't believe you'd be money ahead buying a cheaper one. The nicer the car is when you start, the less time/money/effort you'll spend in the end.
