Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I've never built a DS so I appreciate that you're documenting your build here.
I'll definitely be coming back when I'm ready to build mine.
Thanks. :D

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Going to get the correct gap, then try to apply it to the other side to see if I have it exactly correct, and then report back with the actual setting necessary. Eyeball it for now. Then set your camber at ride height. https://www.amainhobbies.com/rpm-precision-1-10th-1-8th-scale-camber-gauge-rpm70...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Thank you for taking the time to document this build with all the trials and tribulations. This is definitely going to save me time and frustration!

Keep up the great work!👍

Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!

Given my passion for vintage VW's, I will be looking for a full body vw bug body that fits the wheelbase and width... if anyone has any ideas please let me know👍 Found this beetle body with a 260mm wb, I have no idea what the quality is like though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204140700792 It’s not wi...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Chassis nearly done. https://i.imgur.com/6pdcitk.jpg In Bag D are (4) small 4-40 nuts, and (2) large 4-40 nuts, the manual doesn't say which nuts go where: The large 4-40 nuts in Bag D, go on the rear shock tower shock bolts. https://i.imgur.com/cVNnXTn.jpg No shocks yet, propped up to ride height....

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I could be wrong but they look like 1/16 " spacers. Can be used for down stops and also for adjusting the rear hub carrier.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Your build looks great! :D

FWIW, I never apply grease to nylon gears or dog bones. It's messy and the dirt it collects will become grinding paste causing premature wear.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Chassis came out looking really nice.

Image

Serendipitously cool that without the gold centers the wheels look a lot like old Foresight Drag Mags

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Much thanks @Dangeruss! Those rims you have there are sweet! Were those sold by themselves, or they came on a model? I'm really liking the DS wheels with no caps on them. Always welcome! Drag Mags were aftermarket wheels, early 60's to early 70's muscle cars. On your Vette the DS wheels really do l...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I hate cutting wheel wells, probably because I suck at them.

I found these drift wheels for my bandit build. At the time DS wheels were crazy expensive and these were pretty cheap so what the heck.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

That TA decal set is impressive! It includes tinting for windows and even the T-tops.
I don't have a Pontiac in my on-road collection.
Can no longer resist - ordering one now. :D
