Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I went with the 17.5T motor, as that and the 21.5T are said to be the only accepted choices for some racing classes (not sure about any of that), 17.5T seemed like a safe bet. That is the case here. 17.5 was the limit in most of the classes at the carpet oval. The thing to watch, though, is if it i...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

I recently purchased the Hobbywing XR10 Justock G3S Sensored Brushless ESC/SD G2.1 Motor Combo (17.5T), for $113; that's what's in my DS now: https://www.amainhobbies.com/hobbywing-xr10-justock-g3s-sensored-brushless-esc-sd-g2.1-motor-combo-hwa38020372/p1544565 https://images.amainhobbies.com/cdn-c...

Decals give you two options. https://rc-today.ru/UserFiles/Image/d6/7a/tamiya_turing_110_carrera_tam_57874rtr_5b14b2ec4aaa6_4129_big.jpg https://silodrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Porsche-911-Carrera-RSR-Tamiya-Remote-Control-Model-Rear.jpg To my eyes, the Martini over silver was the worst Ma...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

To my eyes, the Martini over silver was the worst Martini paint scheme. The silver seems to dull the stripes whereas the white base provided a great contrast. If those are the choices, I'd go with the street car. What?! Nuh uh... the Silver Martini scheme is awesome, and with the orange bum...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

This should be another great build. I'm definitely looking forward to watching this one come together. :D FWIW, I also have that 911 body set but I'm still looking for the right wheels and tires; The body is a tiny bit large as compared to other 1/10 touring cars. Tamiya probably adjusted the scale ...

Yeah, I hate when they punch holes in the body. I understand they are trying to make assembling the kit easier for us but I like to use alternatives to body posts - i.e. inverted posts, magnets, etc. The 911 body set doesn't have holes. https://images.amainhobbies.com/images/large/tam/tam51543.jpg

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

That's quite a lot of power to put through generic T plugs, keep an eye on them. I'd trust legit deans but I've seen too many of those knockoffs melt. They really gave Dean's a bad name when they are just an inferior made rip off.

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Not sure where they get that number, the original Deans are rated something like 30a (edit- rated 60a) and are much higher quality. If you watch some recent videos on YouTube, there is a ton of junk on amazon right now like 5a fuses that don't blow at 15a and terminals that are such poor material th...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Yeah, cutting decals can be very time consuming but I always prefer to do it myself anyway. When they are die-cut, they never seem to trim close enough to the edge of the color which leaves this clear border that creates a visible edge that doesn't look so nice. The decals surrounding the headlights...
