lets say the boat is 30 in long 30 x .28 = 8.4 in from the rear of sponson or 30 x .30 =9 in from rear of sponson
take a small dowel rod lay it under sponsons an roll it back an forth to find balance point

That's a good point. It's not a permanent solution but it does work to tone down the scratches and give a new like sheen to the plate. Looking good, reminds me of my childhood when I was into slot cars. Don't forget to include plenty of pine trees in the scenery.

Update: me and The Diamond One realized some testing issues regarding the 480gold vs the 240 motors. We were testing in a vintage Salute that had Thorp overdrive gears in it from when the car ran mod dirt oval in the 80s...that along with a big pinion made the 480/360 motors really seem good...and t...

I don't know what motor is appropriate, but I'd say that it deserves a Reedy motor. Putting anything else in it would be blasphemy.

I even think the Optima looks better with a wing.
I was introduced to RC buggies when I started off-road racing so that's probably why I prefer them with wings.
