Re: Le Mans motor restorations

Update: me and The Diamond One realized some testing issues regarding the 480gold vs the 240 motors. We were testing in a vintage Salute that had Thorp overdrive gears in it from when the car ran mod dirt oval in the 80s...that along with a big pinion made the 480/360 motors really seem good...and t...

Re: 4wd Lunchbox?

Personally, I believe that only people with some type of attachment to them will be truly interested. I'm not one of those people. I always thought that the body looked cool but that the mechanicals were truly lacking. I put the Blackfoot in a similar category. And please don't take this as a jab a...

Re: Le Mans motor restorations

There's no shame in manning up and admitting when one is wrong, only shows good character. And any news is good news when it comes to the performance comparisons between these vintage motors. 480Gold is righteous regardless.

Re: Le Mans motor restorations

There's no shame in being wrong, and it's easy to overlook a detail like the Thorp overdrive gearing...I have to blame you for motivating me to buy a cheap digital tach and setting up a brushed motor RPM station as you had me second-guessing myself with my own motors! The results all seemed to...

Re: Le Mans motor restorations

I don't think the 240S was ever underrated. Most anybody you talk to says they're fantastic. 8)

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - April 2021 ** Winner - TheDiamondOne

Hey Thumbs what's the name of your motor ? , That's a crackin car mate ! Thanks Dadio! They are officially called "PRETTY PUNY SISSY LITTLE WIMPY MOTOR" They are fairly obscure and I believe originated as part of GONZO batteries. I think both from Indiana, but I'm not sure. They were rela...

834B Newbie

Always wanted one of these, having been a total Yokomo guy bitd, but i started out with an 870c and just missed out on the 834b era. I got offered this example in a trade and jumped at it.... and it arrived a couple off days ago. It looks very very tidy indeed, although i do need a new yellow batter...

Re: 1/5 scale monster truck project

Upgrades/mods on the 1/5 scale today. As with any custom project after you get it going there's always the chasing down of what needs to be more heavy duty. One major issue was breaking servo gears in the s9020 servo in crashes. Even with the HD servo saver when 50lbs of truck slams the front wheels...

Custom Works Dominator Refresh

Here's a Custom Works Dominator I finally built after having it sit for a few years. I replaced all the plastic pieces, polished the metal parts and added Houge diff sprockets and new chains. I used a re-wired Novak T-1X, NER-2X, NES-1A and receiver pack, along with an East Coast Modifieds mod motor...

Works 91 Build

Well I can’t put it off any longer, these parts have been laid about for around ten years, I’ve been so embroiled in RC10s and Losis I kind of lost the love for the project.

Time to get the hammers and chisels out.
