  • xx for the year of release with 59 corresponding to 1984
According to this:

that is correct, for Showa 59 (Japanese year numbering according to emperor rule).

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)

One curiosity: the uprights are fixed on the upright axle by a setting screw. (one note : I don't put grease on parts that are exposed to dirt as it tend to capture the dirt, so no grease here (if needed I'll spray some PTFE dry lube on the axle). Put a tiny bit of blue locktite on the settings scr...

The problem with vintage Tamiya...

So I have been eyeing a certain Tamiya re-release since about a year now, while also nervously observing the continued availability of Kyosho reissues (Tomahawk and Javelin mostly...don't need Optima Mids and there isn't a Lazer reissue yet) and their high prices. The Tamiya in question is nothing s...

Re: Put that nice looking graphite back together

Because I was told to do so lol I'm going to put that nice looking graphite back together after I tear it down and clean it up. Here is a before pic 20220713_113722.jpg 20220713_141716.jpg Will you be replacing the body by something more period-correct? Wait, no , that's the B6. Please don't put a ...

Javelin rere build

Since I ordered a Javelin, which will be in the mail soon, I figured I'd already start the topic. Let me start with the part that started it all. Several years ago I got my hands on two sets of the Option House alloy sideguards, and then throughout the years collected other bits of Optima in ...

Tomahawk rere build

I haven't got the car kit yet, as it was out of stock at Tamico, but already got most of the options that I want to use:

Of course the HG shocks went to "not available" just after I bought this... :(

Re: Javelin rere build

So laying aside the front end for the moment, I continued with other tasks. First up was the assembly of the body: IMG_2592.jpg IMG_2593.jpg IMG_2594.jpg IMG_2595.jpg I really wish they had used tapping screws for the frame connections, as getting the screws to bite into the plastic was really hard....

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

#3 and #4: I'm tempted to say "very early 1980s or late 1970s Tamiya F1 or F2 car", but don't pin me on that.

Re: Composite Craft Predator Lynx re-build

The top of that chassis looks more worn than the bottom

And that front wheel mounting method  Can't imagine that those wheels turned very smoothly and true.

Anyway, I'll be following this. :)

The plug looks like 1980s Robbe/Futaba. IIRC, Robbe (like other European manufacturers) often renamed imported products sold under their own name.
