Re: Solid epoxy diff. Do you really need a working diff?

Epoxy locked diffs is sometimes done in a car used for dirt oval, or drag racing.

Prototype 2wd Optima

Happened across an old auction for an Oct. 86 issue of some Japanese RC magazine with what looks like two "prototype" 2wd buggies based off an Optima rear end: hotboxproto1086.jpg https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/w1074389000/ Can anyone read the article and give a summary of what it says? ...

Re: Prototype 2wd Optima

From a gearbox standpoint, I don't think the Optima gears and gearing provide any significant advantage or difference vs using the Ultima gearbox. It just mounts to the chassis differently. I'm certainly not against custom builds though and it is cool. The big advantage the Optima gearbox offered t...

Re: Looking for specs on some of the early Bolink motors

I got one of those awhile back, and put it in my Challenger. It was NIP, but had surface rust on the can....I had to remove (then reapply) the label to clean it. :?

Info on the header card was BL-4000 Stock 05 Motor.

Re: RC10 + Technacraft

The earliest advertisement I've seen for them is in the 1990 RCCA Buyers Guide, which was produced/published in '89. Tecnacraft was still running ads in RCCA in 1995.

Re: Can you I.D. these?

Heads up on the Houge chassis....because of it's shape the chassis will stick out from under that Protech body. If you're going to leave it as a truck then I'd suggest getting a monster truck body. Otherwise you can do some searches on the forums to find what buggy bodies will fit. I think Andy's He...

Re: Reedy Modifieds - which one would be your favorite?

I do like the original green label Ultra Reedy motors ... Just an FYI, OG green label motors...the one's without the gold fins on the endbell, were not part of the Ultra series. Ultra series came out when Yokomo upgraded their motors c.1987/88. https://www.rc10talk.com/download/file.php?id=105857 M...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

Thanks for the clues on the boat parts. :) Here's another part I haven't been able to ID....ball diff for something using dogboes/drive shafts with ~8mm hexes on the ends. It's metric, 12mm at the widest bit, then 8mm on the shaft, and 6mm for the ID of the diff rings. #$%^ing finally! For 4 years ...

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread

Wasn’t that what the mag ad was selling -(couldn’t see a brand name), Subaru brat, frog, Blackfoot, monster bettle etc all had the same gear boxes after all , nodis may have had a dog bone out drive option as well as the standard hex bones. Thorp did both the standard and dog bone options as well a...

Re: Sand Rover, Tamiya's unlovable child

Happened across this article just the other day, and thought maybe it'd offer you some ideas. Seems like it might have been a popular mod, as it isn't the first time I saw/heard of people mating Mardave Apache front ends to Holiday Buggies/Sand Rovers.
