Re: Kyosho Nitro Brute Restoration
Awesome posts! Is your rig really sloppy like mine (check out the video). I have so much play in my rear... I guess axles where the fit in the knuckle arms. I am not sure what I will need to replace to fix this. I suppose this might do the trick? https://www.shapeways.com/product/PD2PW2NFL/kyosho-bi...

Re: Got my Big Brute Running Again! But Gearbox Still Having Binding Issues.....
Thanks guys I though I toasted the trans today... my son was driving it in the snow and it was slipping a lot.... long story short I never glued the tires and they were slipping on the tires!!! Thank goodness! I took the whole transmission off the car and was getting ready to take it apart when I th...

My Raider Loves LIPOs
My Turbo Raid LOVES LIPO. I have a 4,200 and 4,600 mah shorty LIPO battery and they fit perfect (after a little help from my Dremel tool. As the Raider's motor is on the left of the car though, the car was really unbalanced if I put the shorty LIPO in the center of the car. With the LIPO on the righ...

Re: Top 3 Kyosho Le Mans motors
I found something cool in the Rocky manual that is missing from my Raider manual (I am trying to get some more speed out of the Raider). When looking at the gear ratio options, the Rocky manual breaks down many of the LeMan's motors and how fast they are (based on whatever data they used). Pretty co...

Raider and Rocky Gearbox Mod - How to Run Taller Gearing (bigger than a 15T Pinion)
Ever since I was a kid, I was underwhelmed with the top end speed of my Turbo Raider. I saved my money and ditched the LeMans 05 stock engine after a while in favor of a Revtech 15x4 turn motor and it was better but still not great. The car accelerated well but quickly tapered off as it is so under ...

Re: Raider and Rocky Gearbox Mod - How to Run Taller Gearing (bigger than a 15T Pinion)
Here is a video of it running with the new gearing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-uYe3XMFtI I am still working on getting a decent camera angle.... I only had like 10 min today before I need to pick up my daughter from daycare so the video was rushed. It looks like (sounds like) the gearing is a...

Re: Hobbywing QuicRun 10.5 T Combo Really Slow - So Frustrated - Any Ideas?
Well, got the first shake down run after servicing the trans... she is a ripper even with the punch on its lowest setting (1 out of 9)!!! The torque of the Hobbywing 60 EZRun setup is almost too much as I can make it any weaker. There is a BIG difference from with the original gearing (22 tooth pini...

Putting the Turbo in my Turbo Raider (Brushless Upgrade!)
I put a $37 Surpass Hobby 9T 4370 brushless combo in it and it got the much needed kick in the pants it needed! The power is just about perfect now! While the top end was pretty good, it had really poor acceleration after going from the stock gearing (46 tooth idle gear and 14 tooth pinion) to a 42 ...

Rear Shafts for Optima/Ultima - Will Re Re Parts Fit?
I just replaced the rear shafts in my Raider with a set a buddy gave me and my Ultima's are almost as toasted and need to be replaced too. It looks like OT-18 is the correct vintage rear shaft but I was wondering if there is a Re Re part that will fit/a cheaper option? They OT-18s are not crazy expe...

56 MPH 3S Turbo Raider
So I have got a little wild and silly with my Raider but she is officially a ripper. I have videos on my Youtube channel of how I make a series of bad decisions to end up with a car that is 3 times faster than it was designed to be.... but it is a lot of fun! I am trying to take it easy on the trans...

Re: Raider and Rocky Gearbox Mod - How to Run Taller Gearing (bigger than a 15T Pinion)
Thanks Cas22!! Also I know its been spoken about in here but I haven't actually seen anyone state it exactly. Can anyone confirm that when running the 32 tooth idler, that the 18 tooth pinion fits using the one of the standard motor mount holes with no modification? Cheers Also if I wanted to run s...

60+ MPH Kyosho Raider
I was able to get my Raider to hit 60+ mph with a budget brushless setup. I am pretty sure it is the fastest one in the world (not that a faster one couldn't be made pretty easily!). As a kid I never would have thought my Raider would have gone much over 20 mph would have been unimaginable. https://...

Custom 3D Printed Idle Gears for the Raider/Rocky Installed
61 mph wasn't enough (still need to break 100 kph) so I installed a custom 3d printed idle gear (30t idle gear along with a 20t pinion). Once I get my stability issues corrected, it should hit 65+ mph. If anyone was looking for optional stock 32t idle gear, there is a file for that too! https://yout...

Re: Is this a Losi JRX2, JRX Pro, or Something Else?
It ran really good! I went hard for like 5 min straight on a baseball field before it started to get hot. It went 33 mph on pavement which was quicker than I expected too. It handled great.ChocoTaco73 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 5:20 pm That poor motor is overgeared like crazy, good thing it has that heat sink
