Well this is nice to find here on an RC forum - a dedicated Slot Car section.
Slotties are a passion for me . Vintage 1:24th and 1:32 scale from the 1960s especially.
I have to say my favourite slot cars were made by Tamiya , COX , MPC ,...

The auto world ones I like the best so far....
I have acquired a bunch of Auto World (modern versions of AFX Magna-Traction cars) slot cars and although the bodies are impeccable, the chassis' are significantly inferior to the originals. The...
Just throwing this out there as a couple of Slot Car threads have been rejuvenated over the past day or two, and I have recently gotten into the hobby of G-Scale (1:24) model trains.
I am going to play completely dumb here (not really a challenge...

are you talking about like adding a small Artin type track next to your trainset? There's tons of that big track around. I did a sell off about 10 years ago and am now several donated sets (on my shipping dollar) deep again. Seems a trend again to...
So i took my 7 yr old to a slot car track 10 minutes from my house and they were awesome. They actually have a rental track and too big race tracks plus a drag strip. These things are freaking awesome and so fast. They have and insane amount of cars...

If only..sigh. Back in the 60's, 1/24 and HO. We had a 10 lane track in town when I was a kid. We had enduros of a few hours. Had to actually dunk the controllers in the toilet to cool them off a the end of each section. My dad built the cars. They...
Oh no, what have I started???! Something I know absolutely nothing about
eBay made me do it, and I couldn't resist.... this is what Mick Goddard of MG motor fame did before RC.
I guess i need a bodyshell next.

After much digging i finally located a Mick Goddard motor heatsink. Speaking to Mick he reckons he only made around 100 of these back in the 70's, so a pretty rare find.
Local 'dirt track' slot cars track to me . pretty different style of slot car racing going on in that link... Had a guy I work with just send me this link and gotta admit that this is the first time I ever ran across this kind of slot car antics......

That's pretty cool, shaking flour down to make a dirt track to get the cars to slide around...with old AFX MagnaTraction cars, you certainly don't even need that, they slide around like crazy already. It would be a hoot to race the bigger...
I thought I'd make this topic to document my project to build an AFX HO scale slot car track. I had a large track layout setup on the carpet a few years ago and finally got the itch and motivation to make it permanent on a sheet of 4 x 8 plywood. I...

I mentioned in a previous post that I painted the lighted cars' clear plastic light buckets silver on the outside, because I think it looks better when the light is actually shining from the headlights ahead of the car, and not spilling out all over...
For a few years now, I've been trying to find a nice way to display my small HO-scale slot car collection and never could find what I was looking for. A lot of guys buy those cheap plastic dollar-store containers with the dividers inside, but since...

Thanks Matt! It took me 2 solid evenings to rebuild all of the cars to get them all working properly again. I had my track set up for a few months 2 Christmases ago, but after putting the track away, it seemed a shame to stuff all the cars in a box,...
was out on my motorcycle yesterday , and on my way home hit a few garage sales
one sale had a ton of old tyco track and 2 cars for 40$ was planning on going back to pick it up (good thing I decided to pass it up)
then the last sale (one a few...

got a table setup in the garage
need to tweak the layout a bit more
but on its way
had to order a few more track supports
we got an old shool bicycle thread, so why not a slot car one. :)
along with racing r/c's, i spent a lot of time racing 1/24 slot cars thoughout the 90's-early 2000's. i still have almost every single one of my cars. i haven't really looked at...
I think I spent more time flicking my hotwheels around the track and bank then actually using the cars designed for it, seeing which would make it around the furthest or fly out the cutout.....
Here's a not so good pic of my 4-Lane 4' x 12' track. The table is over built, 2x4 frame, 1/2 thick plywood with casters to roll it around. A 30vdc 30 amp power supply gives the juice. Timing and scoring via computer controlled byTrackmate software....
I've been thinking about giving up racing for a while and giving slot cars a shot, mainly flexy and wing cars on a king track. I can't really afford a new slot car set up so I've been trying to talk myself out of it.
A work colleague has been...

Somewhere around 4 seconds is still quick at a reasonable price. The cars are half as expensive. There doesn't seem to be much price wise between group 27 and group 7 open, both are $500+
If I bought a group 27 or 7 open I'd probably wreck it and...
Ive allways loved slots allmost as much as RC.Anyone else here into them?I like the smaller 80s Scalextric cars like the metros,Minis etc and recently built a routed MDF track, its so much smoother than plastic track, still need to landscape it.Heres...
Just picked up track sections, transformers, parts cars. Nib 7 cars, 6 nib motors, nib 5 chassis w/circuit boards. Bunch of rear axle wheel hub combos alloys, frontends, shift gear kits. Vintage 1977 to 79 on packaging. They have lever under front...

They were fun and the reason for the short lived life was kinda summed up above. Aurora/AFX also had a small stint with slotless slot cars which lasted just about as long...twice. Both times ended up with the same results...tons of recalls and...
Anyone know what these are? I found them in a basement, worth selling or worth junking? I know nothing of slot cars.
Any questions let me know, and I'll take a look.

Worth sellin on the bay separately. I would use phrases like 'actual t-jet' or 'original t-jet' in the title. Or use actual part/model numbers in the title. The bottom literally fell out of slot car profits when Johnny Lightning, Autoworld,Etc.,etc....
Another post got me thinkin of these..too bad i threw mine out :( ..i had almost all this stuff . i thought they were a ton of fun, wish i still had mine.. check it out .. plus there's a lot more vids linked to this one on you tube... kkPCwv1XDNA
