It's definitely time to start a new thread today. Not that the Bearcat SS is finished (it will be soon), but because now I have started some work on the 44Bs and Zerda chassis. I'm very happy as I like to work on car with chassis variants...

The genuine pulley covers are not great , really low on clearance round the diff outdrivres , you probably did better.
There should be enough. On the other side, Andy mentioned a very small clearance around the pulley, but it is the same with the...
Bormac's midships reshuffled a bit my pipeline of work. In the plan, I wanted to go thru the Samurai model (and still want to go thru it), but since I need to tear down the number two to restart this, I'll start the car that was planned after the...

As mentioned somewhere else, I got a second Bearcat SS today...
It came with a box, the original driver, a few missing bits (steering rods - but I need to check inside the box), a broken bumper... Speaking about the bumper, there is an home made...
acquired from France via ebay. On the basis that its a stock of 'zerda' spares or a project.
Missing battery box top and bodyshell, chassis a bit bent, biggest issue seems to be a bent belt cover which is aluminium (luminum for you yanks!).

Drill it ,drill it , drill it , my humble opinion would be to make it as original as possible.
Now you're getting boring....or I will be (bad pun)
Thanks to Dadio for tips. Got the replacement r/h rear subframe same part as rock'n city model.
The strip down allowed for checking bearings and rods, cleaning and lube. all generally in good nick. I found the main timing belt was so tight it...

I had the Hirobo tires in my radar for a while... I'll do some once I have finished playing with Marui tires :-)
New built 44B with Race Prep arms, JG Kydex, and Proline wheels and tires.

@ threesheds , I used the data provided to derive something... I'm not sure how close it is from the reality, I'll have to wait I have a real tire in hand to check how much need to be reviewed...
Just bought this from ebay as I thought it would be a cool runner and was looking forward to racing it in stock class at the Castle hill vintage meet but when I received it I realised it is new built, the tyres have never had the compresion rings...
The Zerda is another one I wanted as a kid but never had so I started looking recently for one to restore , I just missed one on eBay that came with a pile of spares but I just missed out , fortunately another popped up so I snapped it up , it was a...

I remember the Hirobo Zerda from races in the mid 1980s. It was a very cool 4wd and whisper quiet with its belt drive. It will be a great vintage rebuild!
I got a set of new said wheels on eBay thinking good price and could look good on my zerda or city chassis but....non standard 11mm hex fitting. Guess I can make a fillet/fill-it or adapter.
Anyone out there running a Celica?
I remember the car from the picture in the last page ad of RCCA, but never paid much attention to it.
Who else remembers the hirobo jealousy?
From what I found it was only produced at about 400 pices orso. Hands up: who has one and can share some...

Ok youre forgiven! I'd like to see City and Zerda pics. I've only been rescuing strays but picking up spares to bring to near completion.
And reluctant to pay top dollar for some parts so cobbling together mismatched parts to make runners.

Picked up a Hirobo Invader off of Craigslist yesterday, and am pretty excited to rip into this thing and revive. The body looks like hell, but internals so far look pretty good. I've yet to open the gear boxes, but at least in the case of the rear...

Use these on your stock axles:
Use screw for hex adaptor to lock onto axle. A sturdy fit and allows you to use 2.2 inch rims with easy.
I've used them and they are ideal for light running or racing. I'm sure you could use this mod for other...
Now I continue with a ZERDA, who have received a small preparation to be a hard racer (modification from the age):
-The motor pass to the mid, with hand made alloy plate and alloy support gear (hm).
-A upper deck set (3), to upgrade stiffness...
I was using a mild BL in my Zerda but it was still too much for the all belt transmission so I decided to go back to a brushed setup and chose a Goolrc 17t motor with the same pinion/pulley a 20 tooth one , after 5 min running it was so hot it...

I just found a pair of 7.2v NiMH battery's that I forgot I had :D they are for a pair of Heng Long 1/16 Tiger Tanks , just switched the plugs over to deans and I'm cycling them now YAY problem solved for now .
So today I had a couple of cars out for a spin on my freshly mowed lawn , a Hirobo Zerda and a Yokomo YZ-834b , both running 10.5t brushless systems , I've never driven them back to back before .
I always wondered why the Zerda did not kick the...

I was actually planning on trying a bit of extra weight up front , that will probably really help , I'm thinking of removing the 17.5 t brushless system from my stock Dogfighter and fitting a brushed motor and esc , then probably put the 17.5 t into...
Hi all
I am in the process of restoring a Zerda and had to order the longer belt for the optional 18 tooth pinion/pulley , it's the 93 tooth belt but I could only get them in a pack of 10 so I'm going to have way more than I need , they only cost...
If you own a Zerda ( or have owned ) why not post up your pics and share hints, tips, mods etc.. on how you like to build or set your car up.
I'm sure there are plenty of great builds out there so please share yours with the rest of us.

A bit of thread resurrection but as it was there I thought I'd save cluttering up the forum and use this existing thread .

I've just bagged a Zerda as a project and I was looking to find a new pinion/pulley , the one on the motor and I need to know what pitch and width to get , if you could let me know I'd really appreciate the help .

Thanks , I already have a pair of those belts on their way here, strangely I ordered them directly before posting my question but I was really not sure that 6.5 was pitch not width , looks roughly 6.5 mm wide but fine pitch means nothing to me in...
Hi fellas i have a question, i just bought a hirobo zerda the built version with the red roll cage and i was wondering has anyone tried dying the red roll cage black and if so how did it turn out. Thanks in advance

You can successfully dye nylon a darker color, but I'm not sure you can dye ABS plastic...I'm pretty sure the roll-cage isn't nylon. Here's the thing: nylon can actually be strengthened by the boiling water in the dyeing process. That's good. ABS...
I picked this up locally because it sat on craigslist for a couple of weeks. I just thought it was kind of an oddball car. What can you guys tell me about it?

Pretty much a new build.

With one of the test parts I did sanding with 500 grit sandpaper and then light brush with Acetone. Acetone will soften and bind the plastic layers together. It will also put a shine on the plastic. Don't use too much Acetone or it will soften the...
Hi. I have a new ,unbuilt and boxed hirobo rock'n'vega and I am not sure if I should build it. Or not?!

A hirobo belt drive car is a very special and different thing. Its worth running even if gently and infrequently. Dont get me started! I may go on a spending spree and start going after hirobo cars.... oh no...
Wasn't looking to add another car, but this one just kinda feel in my lap and I thought it was too cool to pass up. I will probably put an esc in this and run it once in a while, but mostly it will just sit on the shelf looking cool as all get out....

I love these Wescom/Hirobo rally cars. Very rare bits of kit and the 205 Turbo 16 is one I'd love to own. In the mean time I'll have to make do with this never run Toyota Celica GT4. :D
Hey guys - looking for some help here... this is NOT a FS thread :)

I remember seeing this add years and years ago in RCCA. It left me thinking there might have been a 'TURBO' version of the AlienMid4.
Any theories on this one guys?

Maybe you could look at having one of your nib kit bodies repro'd?

I am restoring a vintage Hirobo Zerda and was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to buy new parts? I am particularly interested in the drive belts.
Greetings,
I returned to RC planes and cars a few years ago. I recently went back to the spare room and got out the car box. Stored in the box for over 20 years was my Hirobo Zerda. Actually, I couldn't even remember the model name of the car....

Welcome Mike. I have 2 Zerda's and they are both great cars. Im sure its just a matter of time before you find another roll cage for this old girl.
Its amazing just how quiet these cars are with two belts driving everything.
I have always liked the look of the pipe framed buggies and ZERDA has to one of my very favourites.
I bought this Zerda in very good condition from an old racer mate for a real bargain. It came with the box and a pile of new spares too.

Now, make sure you paint the driver well in time: you don't want to have it rivaling the last-minute paintjob Jason did on his ;)
Can anybody tell me if the Zerda's primary drive belt is the same as the Rock'n city 44B's belt? Even if some one might know how many teeth are on the long belt for the Zerda?
