I mentioned few days ago I would create this thread in one of my numerous thread where I actually speak about 3D modeling and 3D Prints in middle of vintage cars...
I currently have an Ender 5 Plus, which is stock beside the full metal...

Each time I launch a print, I know how much the X1C changed a lot the things for me... It's not perfect, but there is very few occasions where I have a failed print and when it happens, it is my own fault...
This is my first attempt at 3D modelling and then 3D Printing a part , I've started with a fairly simple part , a front steering knuckle for a Yokomo Dogfighter YZ-834b , I thought i'd start with this as i need one and they are hard to find ....

I chuffed to bits with how the pose came out , I was scared it would not balance on three legs , I even angled the tail a bit in the hope of balancing it and it just made it look more natural , dumb really as the tail is meant for balance in life so...
First off, I’m new at this. I’m not a pro. I’m learning as I go
I have two printers. A Malyan M200 and a currently unfinished Creality CR-10s. The Malyan is printing really well right now so I’m in no hurry to finish up the Creality. The CR-10s...

The place that was all gung ho about doing the molds has been on other projects all year. Going back and forth on a trans case with them now and I just don't know if it's going to work out or not. I'm pretty tempted to just say screw it and 3d print...
I am in the process of reassembling this car. I have absolutely everything, except this famous part. Do you know if anyone has tried to reproduce it in 3D printing, please ?
I see some of you a practically printing full cars with your printers. I'm wondering if anyone has tried any of the carbon fiber filaments? I realize in theory, it should make parts stronger and less flexible. I printed some 1.9 in Bruiser wheels...

PLA works well for wheels as long as your in a cool climate or don't leave them in the car in the sun , the CF filaments have two advantages , firstly it stiffens the plastic and second it improves layer bonding but it's not miraculous , you should...
I am hoping there is someone out there with some TPU experience that can help me out. I have thought of a couple of items that I would like to make that would have been typically made of simple black rubber. No sheen, just black rubber. I picked up...

Maybe try fuzzy skin? In Cura you can do this and it creates a textured outer wall, may give you the finish you are looking for.
So I have an Ender3 V2 I picked up last Christmas. I have been using it for smaller functional prints and am curious about making some replacement parts for RC cars. I have been learning to design parts on Tinkercad and have found some on...

Fusion 360 is free for makers and should suit your needs as long as you aren't a commercial user.
Building a few 1/10 JRX shelf queens and looking for recommendations for sourcing 3D printed parts... Specifically original, thin shock collars and bottoms (LOSA5010) as well as bumpers. Have not sourced printed parts before and a bit overwhelmed...

There are a few places to look , Shapeways to start with , they have a catalogue of parts that they can print for you or then you move onto just buying the design file from Cults3d and getting it printed at a print shop , best place to look for...
Latest 3d print for the theater room. After working non stop for the past week I took some time to relax this morning and painted up my latest 3D print. Neytiri from Avatar.
Finally got some time tonight to finish up the John Wick 3D print and got it all painted. This is the first stl file I have ever paid for, got the file for $8 about a month ago off cgtrader. It's about 12 -13 tall over all.

I'm a Next Gen fan of the Star Trek franchise. There's a Picard bust on Thingiverse that I tried printing some time ago, but it had some sort of error in it and kept layer shifting about half way through. One of these days I'll have to find another...
Hi - has anyone used a 3D printer for parts? My understanding is the plastic is not as strong, but I guess that would depend on what material is purchased. Any have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Sometimes you wake up to great prints, sometimes you wake up to, well, this. :D
Figured being Labor Day weekend I would take a day off work and finally finish up my 3D printed AT-AT diorama I have been working on for about the past month or so. I scaled the print up 200% and printed it in about 26 different pieces so it's about...

That's a great piece , ten years after Return of the Jedi :!:
Went to my first 3D printing shop in South Korea in Hongdea Station area (the art hub of Seoul). Not surprisingly a lot of art students use 3D printing for their work, and the prices are really low. Dadio designed two options for the RC10...

I also thought the print was rough compared to yours. The price was great, but the quality was something to be desired. I think they probably used the smaller machine on the part. I think it took 90 minutes to print.
SPARTANS....TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!!!
Latest 3D printed project I have been working on. Just finished painting him up. Made the base and the larger step out of cardboard wrapped in masking tape then covered with bondo and then did it in a diorama...

The figure himself is about 6 tall, then the overall height is around 9 . It is actually a D&D miniature I found on thingiverse that was only 1 tall which I scaled up about 600%
Printed this last month in 4 pieces. Got him all together but had not had time to do paint work on him till today. Been swamped with work stuff but finally sat aside a few hours this afternoon to get Dobby all painted up so I can put him in the...

Hi, I’ve had a quick search to see if I can find anyone who undertakes 3D printing projects, but couldn’t find anything.
Is this something that anyone does at all?

If it were me and I don't really do shelf cars then I'd be adapting the static model wheels for sure , at a cost of £60 for 3d printed wheels or £100 for the real thing then I think I'd bite the bullet eventually on real ones , thing is I only have...
I've been modeling and printing parts like crazy lately, a lot of which are SRB based. Thought you guys might like to see the progress. This first set is all the vintage style nylon bits. I'm also working on a rear mono rocker that works with the...

Earlier this year I took the plunge and ordered a 3D printer. Only after ordering did I see the informative thread by Tamiyadan making me question my order, however I received and built a Prusa MK3 and got to work learning how to print. I spent a...
I guess that this would be the most appropriate place to share this infomation.
I just can't leave stuff alone, so I've put my 3d printer to work making parts for the re-re worlds car I recently picked up.

Absolutely correct on require work to get smooth finish. With Shapeways sanding, with my style printer sanding or acetone most likely. This instantly turns off people, and the Shapeways prices...
I'm quite lucky that the company I work at view use of their 3D printer as advantageous; If the unit is being used it stays serviceable for longer so they don't mind the odd homer here and there.

The rims in the bag are genuine items. However the extra (wide) insert and (wide) inside rim looks to have been printed. They have a very unusual texture to them. Almost like they've been sandblasted.
With all the very cool vintage RC cars that I see in this forum, and with the trouble and expense that some people go to get them as good if not better than what they would have been originally, it occurs to me that with the advent of technology...
