I am researching the rc10 DS and I came across how convert the rc10ds to accept hex axles.
I am posting it up here as it disappeared from the rc10.com site

New here and just posted about a Goldpan I'm restoring. I'm also working on a DS and T2 ( found these in the basement after 20+ years etc) for the kids and myself to run together. It's been fun!

Been enjoying the DS - perhaps a bit too much as I’m chewing through the original rear Road Hawgs.
I’m considering a hex conversion to open up my tire options. I’ve seen the detailed conversions, and may go that route eventually, but has anyone...
I have a set of stock foam tires for the DS, but I'd like to set this up in a way it can take modern tires.
I'm looking to bash on pavement, maybe some light dirt if there is a flat enough area. The battery will be a Nimh but the motor is slated to...

You just ream the hole to 1/8 . A couple of mine have them.
Ive used the axle/c-hubs from the associated SC10 4x4. And as Juicedcoupe mentioned, you ream the hinge pin hole to 1/8 in order to accommodate the larger diameter DS hinge pin.
I am in the making of an adapter for the old RC12l/LW/LS to mount the newer 3-bolt wheels. I know one is available from shapeways, but I want it made out of alloy. I just need the exact diameter of the 3-bolt circle. It is not very exact to...
I'm working on building a rc10 DS with a RPM grey transmission. My goal is to make it smooth. So far in my tear down it seems that very lightly oiled bearings with no shields spin the smoothest. There is a really significant spin time...

Honestly if you aren't trying to run a stock class and looking for weight and friction reduction, and just running some high power motor, you won't see any appreciable different with any of your versions so far. Oil, no oil, seal no seal, screws...
I'm building a rc10 DS in one of the new 6001 gold pans.
I was considering replacing the GT style bell cranks with b2 style so I could free up some space to move the electronics forward.
Is this a bad idea?
Are there any ways to do this without...

I thought for sure I posted this car when I first built it but I can't find the thread. Anyway, I decided to change up a few things to make it more like a proper speed run car of the period.

BRAVO!!!!! ...That is a really awesome job you've done.
Just bought this heap off eBay cool part is it still has the original sales receipt from 1982. Any reason the tires would be covered in silicone?? Better traction?
Can anyone tell me the width of the front bulkhead where the inner hinge pin passes through? I trying to figure out if standard off road rc10 front arms would mount to this bulkhead. Thanks
I've been looking for one of these T.M. Racing ST-10 conversions for a few years and as luck would have it, several popped up for sale within about a week.

It's just that in the ad pic there looks to be a standoff under the v-brace, in front of the battery slots, that's too long to fit under there. The brace is straight but seems like it should be bent up after the front arms. When I tried to do that...

So I'm reaching out to you Yokomo guys to see if you can ID the retaining rings on Masamai's RC10GX from back in 1989.

Yes, their shipping is quite stupid, and your location probably compounded it.
But their shipping is the primary reason that I avoid them (and Rock Auto).

Why be in the middle of one build when you can be in the middle of four? It eats up all that time you sit around waiting for parts, and paint to dry, etc.

My suggestion would be to file in the flat spot into the diff halves instead it'd be easier and you'd only have to do it once and be able to use both types of diff rings.
Thanks for the suggestion I believe it would be more efficient indeed

SO you can use RC4WD 1.9 wheels with tamiya tires?
I was loking at some that looked like Magnum 500's but they said 1.9 and I thought they'd be for Short course trucks or crawlers because they always picture them with larger tires.

My search skills might be failing me, but what is involved in converting a nitro RC10DS into an electric DS?
Maybe need:
B or C stamp chassis
Buggy stealth gearbox
Motor plate
Rear shock tower
Rear bulkhead
battery cup
Anything else?

It looks like son is keepin' it nitro after all. 😁 An electric DS in need of some cleanup is going to find it's way to me after all.

This winter, when tidying my attic, I found back my old toys including a RC12LW I bought in 1993 when I was a teenager. This car almost never ran, maybe 100m of test drive in my parent's house driveway.

Has anyone tried peroxiding pan car wheels with foams attached? Will it have a negative effect on the foam if I submerged the wheels in peroxide and water?

A bit more about the Demon car could be found at Classic RC.
It might be useful to visit other pages at the museum too.
There are lots of info about pan cars. Also about old motors, speedos etc.
My RC12LW uses E-clips to mount the front wheels, but I saw pictures of vintage RC12 with nuts on front wheels (which I find more clever). Is it DIY or was it an option offered by some manufacturers back in the days?

Pin diameter is also important because between brands there is a difference, I've measured some that had a pin a smidge too large to fit into the associated slots.
Yeah.
Tamiya ball and pin size is slightly too large for AE cars.
Hello all,
I'm looking at getting different shocks to fit my goldpan rc10 DS conversion.

The shock body is the same as the short arm RC10 fronts, with shorter shafts.

It's a mash-up of a 12L chassis, a 12LW front suspension + rear pod, and a 12L3 rear axle for 3 hole wheels. The added hole behind the servo, for the shock mount, is way forward compared to where it'd be on a 12LW, or 12LS. Not a bad thing...just...
