Re: Tracks around NYC???
Do you guys know of any small power sources I could put on a rack on the back of my bike? I don't know anything about power sources other than the old school ones that were hooked up to a car battery. If I could find something portable and not to expensive I'd be set.

Yes, a portable battery charger. Fully charged it should do the trick to charge and trickle etc.. ( Hope that was what you meant it for )

Since being on this site I have found that I have too many parts and R/C Models. Please help me get rid of them.

Hey, if I can get it to charge 7.2 volt batteries I'll ride it, even if it looks like that.

Re: Tracks around NYC???
Remember those bike lights that used a little generator on the back tire to power the lights? You could hook something like that up to a rack-mounted charger, and Bingo! you never have to fight for a power socket at a race again!
Of course, you'd have to explain to everyone why you have to jump on your bike and ride around between each heat

Re: Tracks around NYC???
Nah, it sort of died there. I took a new job about that time (in NJ) and between the new job, commute and kids getting older/busier, I fell off the RC radar myself. Never completely stopped, but cut way back until the last year or so.
I did find the off-road track out in Farmingdale (Island Raceway - they have a website now), and have taken cars out there a few times.

Re: Tracks around NYC???
I don't mind traveling, I have come up to Connecticut a few times to race nitro a few years back. If there are a few guys or some events and I have my electric car together. Just shoot me some dates and i'll be there. Just expect to hold my hand at 1st.

Re: Tracks around NYC???
RCHR (my personal favorite track in waterbury) runs club races on saturdays, and wednesday evenings.
saturday doors open @ 10am, racing starts 3pm.
wednesday doors open @ 5pm, racing starts 7pm.
when they have tropy races they usually hold them on sundays.
you'll often find vintage 2wds in the 17.5 buggy class.
open 2wd buggy
4wd buggy is a crazy fast class.
and then the usuall short course classes, 17.5 2wd and open 4wd.
no problem holding hands.

I will make it a point to head up there one of these ( warm ) weekends this year. I will let you know before hand so we can coordinate the hand holding process.kaiser wrote:
