When setting the amp rate on my peak charger for nimh packs, I've always used the mah/1000 rule to set the amp rate on the charger. Example: 3000mah/1000 = 3amp.
I've recently read that it's safe to charge at twice the base rate, meaning 2(3000mah/1000) = 6amp. (although the reference was discussing old nicd cells, not nimh)
Is it safe to charge nimh cells using the 2(mah/1000) amperage? If so, will I then have to also adjust the peak voltage sensitivity as well?

NICD would be like 8 milli Volt (.08) and NIMH would be 5 milli volt (.05) so as soon as the tigher peak detect hits it pops the cell off faster down to no charge or trickle.
for NICD sometimes peak would be set at 12 millivolt (.12) because you want that cell roasting off charge depending on what you were trying to do to the cells.
I'm assuming you're meaning volts in your above bracketed values... in which case, 8mV (millivolt) would be 0.008V (eight thousandths of a volt), not 0.08V... same for 5mV (0.005V) and 12mV (0.012V).

Thanks heaps Mark. You have a wealth of knowledge on this stuff. Cheers-Jason
I have 4 3300mah NiMh packs that i'll be running on my losi XX at the VNats. Can I charge these packs the night before and then peake them on race day?? or should I just charge them before racing??
I always charged them at raceday, but this would...

Ok I got some info from the promatch racing guys, Great people by the way, and they said .5 or 5 millivolts per cell or 30mv for a 6 cell pack, this might be useful to others like me
I've been wondering if Peak Performance and Peak Racing are the same company. According to this package, they are.

Most of my older Peak Performance are Yokomo can & endbell, although one is Yok can and Air Supply endbell. But I have one PP motor that is Trinity Epic based. Both of those are from a former PP sponsored racer so I don't think there's been too much...
I traded some stuff and ended up with a couple of those Losi Micro trucks. One is brushless and uses this LOSB0863 battery, 2s 7.4v 180mah and I haven't got a charger for lipo at all. Will this do and maybe be useful when I get other lipo batteries...

The harness I posted says a blank pair of wires that you can connect your own plug to if necessary. So I guess I can solder this connector on. I ordered the charger and harness while they were offering the charger to me at 27.91 . Will this charger...
How long should it take to charge 3300 NiMH batteries? I realize that the type of charger may make a difference, but just give me an average idea please. Last time I charged them I think it took like 30-45 minutes! Seemed like a real long time. I'm...

I ran Venom 3000Mah Nimh in my cars for a while. Some packs are crap, and others worked pretty well. I stayed away from Lipo because of all the horror stories of explosions I was hearing. Now I'm running Lipos in my bomber class car, and it's a...
