the first stealth transmission....sand scorcher

Post by delsami »

i had a sand scorcher that was heavily modded. it had a aftermarket ball diff and 48 pitch brass internal gears. it was the same layout as the steath!! i just wanted to point out that tamiya had it right the first time. i sold the ultimate collector peice a year ago so i cant take pics

You are right on. The tamiya gearbox design was quite good except there was no differential and it was made too heavy using those low fusing alloy. It is very efficient. :)

And to make a long story short, the link in the family tree between the two designs is basically Eustace Moore.

yernat is right. The earliest MIP tranny used gears compatible with tamiya's Sand scorcher tranny. Then when eustace made the SP1 that still used the same gears.
