Thought i'd show you my old RC12L

Post by DerbyDan »

I've got this on my Tamyiaclub showroom page but I thought i'd share it with you guys :)

This, up until recently was the only Associated car that I'd owned. I brought it in the early 90s & raced it at my local indoor club. The club normally ran Off road buggies but the local model shop that I was sponsored by got in a load of these cars - I think the 'LW' had been released & these 'old' kits were sold off cheap - indeed the end of the box describes it as a 'Club Racer'..... despite full carbon chassis components. These kits were quickly sold & started a mini 12th scale resergence within the club - with our own heat & finals. Unfortunately the interest was rather short lived & I ended up being the only 1/12th racer & had to race against the buggies. Despite this the car is still in really good condition. The dark red/white/chequers shell was unused, but the blue shell that was used is wrecked :D

Would be great to run it again. I read somewhere that you can convert the axles to run modern wheels/tyres - i'm not sure on what even the current fitment looks like - but does anyone know what is needed?

Hi you use the current style rear axle set up. here is a link to one at speedmerchant. but you can get them fro IRS, Associated, CRC. You can use a 1/12L4 rear axle setup. but this link has a picture of all the parts yu need. http://www.teamspeedmerchant.com/shop/partshtml/smr1450.html

Nice Car!
Have a nice day! :)
