Anyone know what this is called?
anyone know what this peice is "called" or where i can get one? i know what it does obviously, but is there a term/name for it? brake pad? brake cam? im looking for one if anyone has one

It depends on whomever designed it really. I would call it a braking arm or braking lever arm. The brown thing on there is the braking pad, likely leather. The braking cam would be the oblong thing that rotates and presses against the brake arm to increase pressure.
What are is it for? Cars build in different countries will have different names for the same parts.

sorry, its for the mce 1000 from 1970, built in brooklyn. just not sure if it was a true 1 off custom peice for this car, or something available to other cars at the time

It's a brake. I have an MCE, but I can't see that mine has the same. The Associated cars had some that were servo operated. Look to see if that one has a servo attachment. From the looks of the pic, I am questioning whether or not is it decel or shift in weight activiated.

I would say looking at Mike's pic, it operates by the throttle horn pushing a lever on the other end of the rod?

thats exactly right... the bar that has the push peice there thats still in tact moves via servo, and presses again flywheel to stop.
