question for the kyosho experts
I would like to put a slipper clutch on my A&L leathle weapon 2 tranny.
I know they made one, but it seems hard to get, so...
I can probably get a triump slipper.
Any idea if that would work or could be made to work on the 5mm topshaft of the A&L ?
(I never owned a triumph, so if you have a link to a manual that may help also)

Hey Mr. Ed........I have no really good input for you, however, it is a longshot, but somewhere, I have an A and L Power Clutch kit- only problem is, the packaging says it is for the MIP and A and L Lethal Weapon, and I believe you said you have the Lethal Weapon 2. Is there a chance this could work?
I have a pic somewhere, so let me know.
Scott

I have no idea on the difference between the 2 releases of the Lethal Weapon tranny.
I think the 2 is the one for which they made 2 versions: one for Astute, ultima, triumph, and one for Asso, traxxas, etc. . The only difference between those is the size of the outdrives: to accept the right dogbone size. So the topshaft probably didn't change.
If anybody can confirm this, please do.
Scot, If you could check your kit or the picture and tell me if it fits over a 5mm axle and grips over a pin through that axle, then I'm ready to take the risk.
Thanks, Erik

First the easy bit, the Kyosho Triumph manual
http://www.retromodelisme.com/scan_pages/1525/triumph-kyosho-page-8.html
Don't know what the Lethal Weapon 2 shaft is like, but I suspect it will be tricky to fit as the Triumph slipper has a large hub behind the gear.
Alternatively why not contact A&L, or Factory Works as they are now. They don't list them but they say they still have spares for the lethal Weapon trannys.

i dont wanna say for sure because i've been wrong before, but isnt the lethal weapon 2 just the lethal weapon but with the power clutch included?
just checked my instructions, it never refers to the shaft size but it uses 5mm bearings. so, uhm, i would assume its a 5mm shaft. the power clutch is retained by a pin and is threaded on the end like your standard slipper shaft. it also says the power clutch can be used on both a&l and mip trannies.Mr. ED wrote:If you could check your kit or the picture and tell me if it fits over a 5mm axle and grips over a pin through that axle, then I'm ready to take the risk.

Thanks everyone for the many replies.
I'm now confident the A&L slipper clutch will fit both Lethal Weapons "1" and 2.
(I guess the kit woobie has is from before the release of the lethal weapon 2 and hence does not mention it.)
The Triumph slipper looks adaptable too: depending on the outer diameter of the hub passing through the hole of the moterplate or not, and offcourse on the hole diameter for the shaft.
The triumph slipper I had in view however is not complete I believe: missing the pressure bearing and the other small stuff at that end.
I will check on that. If anybody knows both diameters : I still have another project in mind that can use a slipper also.
So, Woobie, let me know your price please

Wrong again Hoopty dooptybadhoopty wrote:i dont wanna say for sure because i've been wrong before, but isnt the lethal weapon 2 just the lethal weapon but with the power clutch included?

I got the 2 and it did not have a powerclutch. It was apparently sold in 2 versions with and without, but the outdrive size is indded what makes it a 2 or "1"
Woobie send me a scan of his instructions and Isaw what you meant on the bearings. Thanks both of you.
